Reactions to Adam Lambert’s top pre-order placement at amazon.com

As we all know, Adam’s album hitter already in pre-sale. Without cover, title and any single released, it shows that the fans of his voice will buy the album even with their eyes closed.

One reaction has been published today at about.com and written by Bill-Lamb:

Adam Lambert’s upcoming album is finally available for pre-orders via online sales giant Amazon, and its impact is being felt on the bestselling album chart. Lambert is this year’s American Idol runner-up and has been the subject of far more press attention and anticipation for his first post-Idol recordings than any previous competitor. Consequently, with only pre-orders his yet to be titled album is ranking #3 on the Amazon sales chart. This puts him in the company of the powerful sales surge that greeted Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream when it became available for pre-orders. Without a doubt any leaks or presentation of singles from Adam Lambert will be greeted with a frenzy from his fans. If it comes close in quality to what is anticipated, Adam Lambert’s release could be one of the top selling albums of the end of the year.
The upcoming album from Kris Allen, winner of American Idol sits at #131 on the Amazon chart.

Yahoo.com – Reality Rocks
And Lyndsay Parker, a big Adam fan, writes in her Google-blog RealityRocks some comments about the placement of Adam’s album in the company of ultmate stars…and above them:

(…) The Beatles’ own John Lennon declared that the Beatles were bigger than God. But here’s a fact: Only a few hours after being listed on Amazon, Adam Lambert’s pre-orderable debut album is already at #2 on the site’s Bestsellers chart…above Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, fellow Simon Cowell-affiliated reality star Susan Boyle (whose own debut comes out the same day as Adam’s, November 24), and–yes–the Beatles.(…)
Clearly, Adam’s album is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2009. Some diehard fans have already ordered multiple copies.

Also the gay-site projectqatlanta.com made their comment:

With no official promotion, gay ‘American Idol’ runner up Adam Lambert outdid Madonna Monday—and passed Barbra Streisand Tuesday—in Amazon.com pre-sales. This for a disc with no name that doesn’t even come out until Nov. 24.
He’s more than hanging with gay icons; now they have to sit up and take notice. Beating Amazon’s perennial favorite Madonna by a longshot, Lambert’s pre-sales Monday came in second only to Streisand’s first release in four years. On Tuesday, he passed even Babs.
Just to seal the score, Lambert also out-sold the Beatles and Susan Boyle for the second day in a row Tuesday. Not bad for an as-yet-unnamed debut with zero official publicity.
Not only did RCA not publicize that pre-release ordering would be available, the singer’s record label and publicist didn’t announce it at all.

MTV.COM
Kyle Anderson from Mtv.com has written a note about Adam topping the pre-sale charts and found it worth to mention for 2 reasons:

First, most of the details about Lambert’s album is pretty much unknown. There is no title, no single and no complete track listing yet. We do know there are a handful of producers working on the album and that the song Lambert cut for the soundtrack to the upcoming film “2012″ totally blew away Queen guitarist Brian May. The buzz around Lambert is truly huge if he’s able to sell an album that doesn’t yet exist, and the only guarantee is that his name will appear in the sleeve.
The other thing that makes Lambert’s Amazon chart dominance amazing is that he has topped a number of high-profile artists, many of whom just released new music this week. Lambert’s album stands above new records from Barbara Streisand, Madonna and Mariah Carey (as well as the Beatles).

Wow this is amazing. I also ordered but not from Amazon. I ordered from Best Buy. I bet if Amazon was the only place where Adam’s album could be pre-ordered it would have been backed up for months!
