One of the first to react was Michael Slezak from EW.com:
Is America ready for this particular jelly?
Adam Lambert unveiled the cover for his forthcoming debut CD, For Your Entertainment, on his official site this afternoon, and to paraphrase the sadly under-appreciated 2003 single from current Dancing With the Stars contestant Mya: This cover’s like…whoa! A publicist for 19 Recordings reveals that the image was shot by Warwick Saint in August in New York City. And, to put it mildly, it’s a little more, um, out there than the pensive-yet-ultimately-benign images we’ve come to expect from Idol runners-up.
Is America ready for this particular jelly? Some of my EW colleagues aren’t terribly optimistic, but might I remind them, we’re dishing a dude who sailed through Grand Ole Opry week with a hyper-sexual, sitar-infused take on “Ring of Fire.” Anyhow, while the Glambert nation collectively wipes its brow, catches its breath, and attempts to unlock its eyes from Adam’s hypnotic gaze (good luck!), here’s five things I think the cover art reveals about the artist and his debut disc, set to drop Nov. 23.
Lyndsay Parker from yahoo blog ‘Reality Rocks’ asks: Adam Lambert’s Album Cover: Xanadu, Or A Xana-Don’t?
Now, I adore this cover’s absolutely fabulous retro vibe. (It looks so much like a beauty shot snapped by Andy Warhol in some glitter-dusted private party room at Studio 54, I can almost imagine Bianca Jagger riding a white horse in the background; what’s not to like?) But it will be fascinating to see if such an androgynous android image goes over well with more mainstream record buyers (you know, the ones who are still trying to wrap their brains around the “shocking” fact that Adam dabbles in a bit of MAC from time to time).
Unfortunately, there might be many closed-minded (mostly hetero male) customers who’ll be too embarrassed carry such a glamtastically Jobriathian album up to the cash register at Wal-Mart or Best Buy.
Their loss.
Mtv.com by Jim Cantiello:
Adam Lambert revealed his album cover for “For Your Entertainment” and it’s as spectacularly over-the-top and jaw-dropping as his memorable “American Idol” performances. The dude is a walking water-cooler conversation. And by golly, he’s done it again.
In the Tweet that linked to the cover, Lambert wrote, “Glam is back!!!” Judging from this album art, however, I don’t know that I’d say it’s back so much as hanging out at the mall Glamour Shots kiosk. (Will this eye-catching retro look help sell albums? We’ll find out when it lands in stores November 23.)
As bonus, Cantiello offers a look back into the most insane Idol covers of all time….
Adam Lambert looks particularly enchanting on the just-released cover of his debut album For Your Entertainment, out next month.
Bad cover
Queerty.com, Adam Lambert’s cover is bad:
For Your Entertainment? It certainly is! Because when we spotted Adam Lambert’s album cover, we burst out laughing. This is what he’s come up with? We love you Adam, but no. NO. NO! It’s Rainbow Bright mixed with one of these mistakes from the 80s. We’re struggling to think that, somehow, down the road, we’ll see this as an “iconic” cover. Check back with us. In a decade.
Blue hair! Spiky, fingerless gloves! Lime green eye makeup!
I don’t know what I was expecting his album to look like, but I know I wasn’t expecting this. And honestly, I love it. It brought some big gay sunshine to an otherwise dreary mid-week.

The cover art for Adam Lambert’s debut album “For Your Entertainment” has just been released, and in typical Adam fashion, it’s glamtastic (As Lambert himself tweeted: “Glam is back!”). The “American Idol” runner up is pictured with blue hair and hyper-colored lime and navy eye shadow, and a finger-less glove adorns in his left (black nail-polished) hand. (Remind you of any other “Idol” alumnus’ cover?) Oh yeah, and his head seems to be floating around in space. David Bowie would be proud.
Truth be told, I’m all about Team Glambert, which is why I’m happy to see the cover for Lambert’s solo disc, due Nov. 23, seems to promise the crazysexycool vibe of his Idol performances.
Androgyny? Check. Fierceness? Check. Makeup and blue hair? Check. (Loves it.)
The cover of Adam Lambert’s upcoming record was released today and… um… Woah. That’s some sparkly shit right there. That’s some really amazingly glittery, fabulous, Photoshopped stuff.
Do not adjust you computer monitors: the above image of Adam Lambert is in fact the cover for his post-Idol debut album For Your Entertainment, due out November 23rd. The album cover was confirmed by Lambert’s Adam Official website today, and judging solely by the art, his debut is venturing to a glammed-out galaxy far, far away from his image on his 2012 single “Time for Miracles” — probably landing someplace where there are Spiders from Mars. From his bright blue hair to For Your Entertainment’s straight-off-Purple Rain font, this album looks like it’ll live up to Lambert’s Twitter promise that “Glam is back!!!”
This week, we can see where Lambert landed after the mayhem and destruction – in his own distant and peculiar galaxy, circa 1983.
The cover art for his new album, “For Your Entertainment,” features the singer at his glammy best, but with a distinctly retro look to all that eye shadow and feathers. His look seems to be the love child of a 3-way tryst between Boy George, Adam Ant, and Ziggy Stardust, with a little Michael Jackson thrown in (the glove).
The image doesn’t particularly match the mainstream love anthem vibe of “Time for Miracles,” the only track that’s been released so far. But Lambert proved his versatility on “Idol”.
Adam’s cover art for “For Your Entertainment” definitely skews more in line with Allison Iraheta’s album than it does with Kris Allen’s album, which makes sense as their music styles are far similar. It also reminds us more than a little of David Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane” album cover. Are you a fan of the cover? We definitely are. Adam looks amazing and the artwork is just ramping up our excitement about the CD.
The early reviews are decidedly mixed for the cover of Adam Lambert’s debut CD. Some ask if we’re reliving ‘80s mistakes, but others assert that it’s all that bad that makes it oh-so-good.
Let’s break it down.
One friend of Project Q Atlanta says the cover of “For Your Entertainment” (top photo) is “ridiculous in all the good ways.” We tend to agree, and in many ways, think the result is necessary and expected given Lambert’s, um, skin.
Oh alright, let’s not mince words: We mean his spotty complexion. Admit it, you knew an airbrush artist, Photoshop expert, and an entire lighting crew would be involved.
We love you Adam; we really do.
When Adam Lambert revealed the cover art for his upcoming debut album entitled For Your Entertainment, he proclaimed “Glam is back.” One look at the dreamy, Iggy Pop-esque pic and you can do nothing but agree.
The 28-year-old rocker goes for an 80’s androgynous fantasy look on the cover. He stares into the camera intensely with his piercing eyes expertly traced in black eyeliner. He wears a fingerless glove to show off his nails which have been painted black. He’s backed by a galaxy of stars. A blue light beams on his black locks, changing it’s color to an electric cobalt hue.
Listen, I’ll be the first to admit Adam Lambert is a good singer. But pipes do not make up for a surprising lack of a personality. I’d rather hear Tom Waits gargle hot rocks into a microphone, than a singer who panders commercially.
Adam Lambert, a runner-up on American Idol, is most noted for his Broadway falsetto, broad range, and thus-far boring material. Fangirls are eagerly anticipating his attempt to move into the mainstream this November, with the album, “For Your Entertainment”. Never mind that the title sounds like boring, deep-fried and put into a burrito for you to consume, if the album cover is any indication, the album comes with a unicorn you can ride on and glitter you can sprinkle from the roof-tops. Also, it looks like they were going for a David Bowie had sex with a photoshop retoucher vibe, who then had sex with the cover of a Poison album.
I LOVE ridiculous. I LIVE by ridiculous. And I love that the art direction for For Your Entertainment was basically like “Um, so, let’s take Prince’s Purple Rain album art, Rihanna’s Rated R cover art, and Steel Panther’s Death To All But Metal cover art, add Kate Gosselin’s wig but spray paint it blue, mkay? But let’s ALSO paint Adam’s nails black too, because that’s always symbolically dark.” I also love that it looks like the kind of mural you’d see airbrushed onto the wall of a crumbling skating rink. The only thing that truly makes no sense is the budget-looking font used for Adam Lambert’s name. I think my accountant uses the same font. Boring! MOAR SPARKLES PLZE!
Adam Lambert has fans seeing stars – of the “Space Oddity” variety. Judging from the recently-released album cover of his post-American Idol debut For Your Entertainment, there will be no shortage of vintage glam, fueled by new-millennium flair on the upcoming release.

Is America ready for some glam? American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has released the cover of his upcoming debut album and “glam” sums it up. “For Your Entertainment” will be released on Nov. 23.
Tuesday before heading to the “This Is It” movie premiere, Lambert posted on his Twitter page “Glam is back!”
And the cover is certainly glam. The cover features Lambert with blue hair (think Flock of Seagulls ) wearing a black fingerless glove (recalling Michael Jackson or Madonna), an air-brushed face (reminiscent of Olivia Newton-John in “Xanadu “), a “Purple Rain ” inspired font; and a totally cosmic space background.
rollingstone.com about defending the cover
Reaction to Adam Lambert’s debut album cover has certainly been strong. Some fans have pledged their allegiance to the American Idol alum’s glamtastic artwork on For Your Entertainment, while others have slammed it as more than a tad over-the-top (the phrase “space alien from Planet Fierce” has come up — on both sides). Lambert himself weighed in on his Twitter today to explain the thinking behind the glowing, spacey cover: “Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It’s an omage [sic] to the past. It IS ridiculous. For those that don’t get it: oh well… Glad to have gotten your attention. androgyny. Rock n Roll.”
At the forums, the cover was a reason for the verbal battles between the fans who like it and the fans who don’t… Adam is full of controversy, and it is not since today…
