Lionel Richie has recently made a broadcast for Sirius Radio and share his thoughts about American Idol 8. In the interview with Barbara Walters he said among others:
Sirius Radio: So Adam should have won?
Lionel Richie: Adam is the voice of life. But from a marketing standpoint – harder to sell.
Barbara Walters: But much more showbiz…
Lionel Richie: He is showbiz.
Barbara Walters: But I can see Adam doing Broadway and I can see Adam doing Las Vegas…
Lionel Richie: But how many Broadway artists are doing pop music?
(…)
Lionel Richie: Danny should be in the finals together with Adam.
Sirius Radio: So do you think Danny should have won?
Lionel Richie: Yeah.

I thought it was obvious that that last duel pre Idol finale was to be Danny and Adam. I think that that song Kara wrote was written for Danny.
The costume put on Adam ( The sinner ) was straight from the bible, depicting Lucifer, the fallen angel of Darkness. I suppose he was to battle Danny the Angel of Light and Mercy ( The self proclaimed Christian, who wanted to do good in the world .) Don’t know if someone higher up put the cabash on the plan at the last minute for some reason, or the voting is for real, and coupled with the Scream On Nightmare, the University Students, who cut their teeth on technological toys, got real focused and changed the ending: But something happened. I just find it so refreshing that Lionel Ritchie is being so candid. I do hope it doesn’t end up costing him too much, as it is obvious from some of the slander coming out of some of the entertainment industry media that they are out for blood, when it comes to Danny. Danny has seemingly become a scapegoat for the Prop 8 fiasco, as well as the Lambert upset.
God help us all. ( Talking about our highest vibration here… this is a non denominational remark )
I hope that Lionel can help Danny to navigate the shark invested waters of showbiz. Danny could use that kind of help right now. It would be nice to see David Foster mentor Danny on an album, if not produce it. Lionel are you listening? and can you make this happen? Or whoever can, if you see this, can you help?

I also felt Danny should of won. In my opinion he was the best singer. He is wonderful with his fans and I believe he is going to have a great career. He didnot deserve the hate that has been thrown at him. For everything that I have seen about him, he is a caring, decent person who happens to be an amazing singer.Thank you Lionel for speaking up for him!

Count me as another who thinks Danny deserved to win; he’s what AI used to be all about; finding raw, undiscovered talent and molding them. But seeing the scenario unfold, think Danny is sitting just right. The hate leveled at him had he won would have been even worse; and even though AI loved Danny they still may have promoted Adam more like they are doing now. Lionel is a class act all around, you can tell how he tried to let Danny shine!

Danny being the best singer is an opinion, not a fact. Most people, including those in the music industry, think Adam is the best singer. If you don’t believe me, listen to this, especially at 3:23:
