Hi Fi Chairman and CEO John Hecker commented recently to Reuters on the ‘Want’ – gate.
As we read, he confirmed that Adam has written 9 of 11 songs on the album as well as
denied some fans’ assertions that Lambert was being ripped off, saying the singer stands to make “a ton of money” through a royalties arrangement commensurate with deals for major artists. Lambert will not only receive songwriting royalties, but he also co-owns the copyrights with Wilshire, Hecker said.
He also commented on the ne material in HIFI/Wilshire hands:
Hecker said the recording sessions yielded enough material for a second album, which will also see the light of day eventually.
Reaction of 19 Entertainment?
A spokesman for 19 Entertainment did not respond to an email seeking further comment.
At the same time there are some intensive discussions going on among the fans on the Adam-related boards and forums, as Adam has not directly ‘blessed’ nor criticized ‘Want’ /’On With the Show’ – release.
As per the poll placed on this site, the majority of fans would prefer to download the tune for free. Many fans have directly expressed their protest against HIFI’s release on twitter, blogs and forums.
An interesting thread has been started on one of the fan forums, where Adam’s copyrights to the songs have been checked on the websites of three music licensing agencies in the U.S:
ascap.com
repertoire.bmi.com
sesac.com
The resuts of those searches show that Adam has copyrights only to the songs written with/ for The Citizen Vein.
The speculations continue…

This is a follow-up to previous request for clarification on Adam’s new fb a/c. Can you please verify whether Adam Mitchel Lambert is legit?
Thanks for your assistance.
Thanks for keeping us all informed.

I’d like to remind everyone that downloading Want for free is illegal in the US.
“As per the poll placed on this site, the majority of fans have so far downloaded the tune for free. Many fans have directly expressed their protest against HIFI’s release on twitter, blogs and forums.”
As I have read the poll, it asks whether one has the intention to download for free, not that thay have done so.
I don’t think that you mean to suggest that Adam’s fans have done anything illegal.
I don’t know how the law views this issue in the other countries that fans come from on this site.

afishe – thanks for your point.
My text indeed indicates that fans INTEND to download it for free. Will correct it accordingly. By writing this post I would like to illustrate the reality of what are/may be the consequences of Want- release. The poll is open to any of Adam’s fans all over the world – so not country specific.
The poll is also open to ANYONE, so of course the results should be seen as a trend only.
My perception is that some fans, even if conscious about the rules, are willing to download the song for free rather than give the profit to HIFI – as a sign of the protest from their side.
The bottomline is that the results of the poll as well as general feeling would be different if fans were happy for the way ‘Want’ and the album have been released.
I hope I have clarified my point better now.
All the best
