Adam Lambert vs. Lady Gaga – comment by Rhombusmag.com

After a while off the blog, I make my comeback to Adam news. Found this interesting comment about Adam, AMAs, Lady Gaga and more that make a lot of sense to me. Please skip it if you’ve read it already. by rhombusmag.com

Adam Lambert performed at the American Music Awards (AMAs) and managed to accomplish everything that Lady Gaga wanted to but couldn’t. More specifically, while performing his song “For Your Entertainment” Lambert kissed another man and pushed a male dancer’s face into his crotch, simulating oral sex. The moment instantly became headline news and, not surprisingly, groups like the conservative Parents’ Television Council were outraged.
As is usually the case, this controversy has only benefited Lambert. Though ABC canceled his gig on Good Morning America in response, Lambert immediately booked a performance on CBS’s The Early Show instead. More importantly, newspapers and magazines across the country have made Lambert the centerpiece of their entertainment coverage. Whether you love or loathe Lambert, his profile is higher than ever and he’ll undoubtedly sell more records.
However, Lambert’s other, somewhat more abstract reward for his AMA controversy is his new status as a fledgling gender-bending icon. It’s the kind of thing Lady Gaga wanted to be, but which her VMA performance didn’t quite deliver. In the wake of the AMAs people aren’t just talking about Lambert, they’re talking about what he represents, which is something edgier and more appealingly dangerous than most female pop stars can manage. If he isn’t exactly starting a movement, then he is definitely beginning to be remembered.

Adam Lambert nominated/performing at the Academy Awards? Buzz, rumors, speculations – links

Hispanic Business

American Idol’s Adam Lambert may sing at the Academy Awards – on ABC.
Lambert’s soundtrack song “Time For Miracles,” is rumored to be up for a nomination, and that means Lambert would take the stage on national network TV, in front of a global audience once again.
Lambert, whose phenomenal voice has earned him international attention, has been on damage control since his controversial, sexually charged performance at the American Music Awards three weeks ago.
Although he has been everywhere in the media, his album sales have dropped dramatically and Lambert is trying to refashion his public image to focus on the talent, not the persona.

Talk about “Time for Miracles.”
There’s a chance Adam Lambert could end up performing that very song on the Oscars, which will air on ABC — the very network that’s banned Lambert for his raunchy on-camera behavior.
Lambert, the “American Idol” favorite, sings “Time for Miracles” on the soundtrack of the big-screen movie, “2012,” an apocalyptic, end-of-the-world thriller starring John Cusack and Danny Glover.
And while Oscar nominations won’t be announced until Feb. 22, there’s always the chance that “Time for Miracles” can get an Oscar nod — meaning Lambert could perform it on-air March 7 when ABC airs the Oscars (with co-hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin).

Adam Shankman’s Twitter followers, that’s who. The Oscarcast producer last weekend solicited show-planning suggestions from his 48,000 devotees, sparking a torrent of feedback and burgeoning transparency that — according to at least one report — isn’t making the Academy terribly comfortable. But with the downmarket promise wielded by solicitations like, “So weird question; would u watch the oscars with more exitement [sic] if I cast some sytycd dancers if there are musical #s,” who wouldn’t want to see just how far the hoi polloi can influence Hollywood’s grandest show?
They’re the viewers Oscar’s courting, after all, tweeting back to Shankman en masse with replies like: “I will watch the Oscars no matter what, but my excitement factor will be ten-fold if you have SYTYCD alumns in the show. :) ,” “If Rob and Kristen present an award together, or even just Kristen since she wasn’t invited (rude!) last yr, I’d 4 sure watch,” and more than a few calls for a Lambert performance. The people have spoken, though good luck with that on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel vs. Bill O’Reilly vs. Barbara Walters about Adam Lambert – video

Jimmy Kimmel showed this clip on his show yesterday…
Looks like Barbara Walters is definitely on Adam’s side, Bill O’Reilly is definitely against and Jimmy Kimmel… sounds like he is a bit bitter about not canceling Adam’s show since it turned out to be a great business for the tv stations to have Adam appearing….

Adam Lambert’s ‘Mad World’ on The Top 10 Everything of 2009 by TIME.com

TIME.com made a list consisted of The Top 10 Everything of 2009.
Adam’s ‘Mad World’ studio version is on the position 10 of Top 10 songs of 2009 with the comment:

“Talent is a trend,” goes the old record-company proverb, and Adam Lambert proved it repeatedly on the reality talent show that no one remembers he didn’t win. In particular, Lambert’s performance of this slowly building Tears for Fears track shows off his ability to interpret a song and create dramatic tension — a lost art in pop music. It also helps that he holds his notes with remarkable clarity and has such obvious vocal star power that America couldn’t help but make him the … well, whatever.

Waiting for Adam Lambert on abc’s ‘The View’ – press overview

Speakeasy – Wall Street Journal Blog – Adam Lambert vs. ABC: “The View” Steps In

In the wake of his stage performance on ABC’s “American Music Awards” in which he kissed a man and simulated oral sex, former “American Idol” Adam Lambert has been fighting a running war with the network. Now it looks like he’s found a home on “The View.”

LATimes – Adam Lambert gets guest spot on ‘The View’ after outcry from supporters
After taking heat from Adam Lambert’s fans and gay advocates for a week, ABC on Friday extended an olive branch of sorts to the “American Idol” runner-up who made headlines with his provocative performance last month at the American Music Awards in which he kissed a male musician.
ABC canceled Lambert’s scheduled appearances on “Good Morning America” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and stopped considering him for “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which drew thousands of complaints from viewers and gay advocates who believed the network was retaliating against him because he is gay.

Knoxville.com – ABC finds place for Adam Lambert after all
WASHINGTON — In the latest episode of its new reality series “Sanctimoniously Dumping Adam Lambert,” ABC has announced he will, in fact, perform on its airwaves again.
Lambert is scheduled to sing on the network’s daytime yakker “The View” on Thursday. That’s the day after Lambert talks with Babs Walters on ABC’S “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009.”
Only, unlike three other planned Lambert performances that ABC has canceled in recent days, both of this week’s appearances were taped in advance.
This gives ABC time to surgically remove any naughty bits.

The network has confirmed the American Idol eighth-season runner-up’s Friday night Twitter post that he’ll be appearing on The View’s December 10 broadcast, The Los Angeles Times reported.
“Hey friends! I will be performing and hanging w the ladies of ABC’s The View Thursday the 10th!” wrote Lambert in a post to his Twitter account before reminding his fans that he’ll also be appearing on The View producer Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People special on Wednesday night.
“Also look for me on Barbara Walters’ Ten Most Fascinating People of 09 the night before also on ABC.”

Hispanic Business – Adam Lambert Tells ABC, Critics ‘Whataya Want From Me?’

American Idol’s Adam Lambert is busy this week remaking his public image after ABC canceled two more of his schedule appearances on the Disney-owned network.
Lambert stole the show on ABC’s American Music Awards two weeks ago, but his brief same-sex kiss offended network executives, who dropped him from Good Morning, America and now, Jimmel Kimmel Live and Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve!

Popeater.com – Elisabeth Hasselbeck ‘Going for the Kill’ With Adam Lambert
If you like drama, you may want to set your DVR to tape ‘The View’ on Thursday, as there is going to be an old-fashioned throwdown between host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and the newly-controversial Adam Lambert. Word is the conservative host is ready to pounce on the openly gay star’s recent racy performance. Also in the column, Elton comforts Billy Joel and Catherine Zeta Jones is one classy gal.
Of all the fabulous argue-happy ladies on ‘The View,’ the conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the one that is most excited about controversial singer Adam Lambert’s taping today … because she smells blood in the ‘View’ water. “She can’t wait to bait Adam about his infamous inappropriate performance,” an insider told me, “and don’t expect her to pull any punches. She’s going for the kill.”

‘Adam Lambert isn’t just a singer who’s gay before and after the music ends’ – LATimes

Ironic comment published yesterday on LATimes

Poor ABC; for the first time in its broadcast history, it has come across a gay male entertainer who isn’t simply gay. He is, to borrow a phrase from a caller on Randi Rhodes’ radio show, gay GAY gay.
Unlike sexually nonthreatening gay performers of yore, such as Elton John in his wonderfully harmless array of colorful sunglasses, or Liberace, who respectfully concealed his gay toolkit behind a family-friendly piano, Adam Lambert isn’t just a singer who’s gay before and after the music ends. He’s there to shake his gay moneymaker in your face and, as the fear-mongering goes, convert the planet into a guy-on-guy orgy of epic proportion. ABC’s reaction: Keep on canceling Lambert’s scheduled performances.
Fathers, lock up your sons.

Lyndsey Parker about Adam Lambert’s abc controversy: ‘An American Idol, Banned In The USA’

The abc’s cancellation of Adam Lambert performance has provoked the immediate reactions of the press. Once of the very first to react, as usual in case of Adam Lambert was Lyndsey Parker from RealityRocks blog by yahoo in her article: ‘An American Idol, Banned In The USA’, where she gives the examples of other American performers who have been banned and censored from US media, but it only helped them to achieve the immortality and status of stars:

This is indeed unsettling news in light of Adam’s GMA cancellation, feud with Out magazine editor Aaron Hicklin, and any number of controversies he’s had to contend with ever since racy pics of him same-sex smooching at Burning Man spread across the Interweb back when he was still in the American Idol top 50. But I’m here to tell you, there is a bright side to all this: Banned and censored artists are the artists we all remember. They’re the ones that make it into the history books, that have VH1 rockumentaries made about them, etc. Many artists have faced similar “scandals” in their careers, and they not only came out of it all just fine, but actually had their immortality cemented by such events.

‘Time to stop the hypocrisy’ – a comment on Adam Lambert’s AMAs controversy by The Palestine Herald

There have been many comments about Adam’s AMA performance and the following abc/CBS moves that only increase the level of controversy. This one is one of the most interesting ones, written by Robert Rich in the The Palestine Herald, published on the 29th of November 2009 under name Time to stop the hypocrisy on freedom of expression.

It’s time to stop the hypocrisy. Either let Adam Lambert come on the show and perform in gloriously man-on-man kissing fashion, or cancel both his and Rihanna’s performance. I know there are many out there who find Lambert’s actions despicable and can’t stomach what he stands for, but there are just as many out there who think Rihanna parading around half-naked is just as bad. We claim to have freedom of expression in this country, but we all know it’s a lie. Artists and people are still held down because of many, many things, while others get to flourish. It’s time to decide ABC: what’s your move? Do both get to perform, or neither?
