Adam Lambert – ‘Idol Supernova’ interview to MSN Music

Adam gave an interview to MSN Music recently, the subject was mainly his new album. Fragments below, the full interview is under this link.
MSN Music: What do you want people to learn about you from listening to this album?
Adam Lambert: I want people to realize that I don’t always take myself that seriously and that I have a good time, and that music should be fun and delightful and [make you want] to play dress up and feel sexy and flirt and feel good about yourself. There are other tracks on the album that are vulnerable and personal that I wrote from experience and that, hopefully, are an insight to who I am as a person.
How important was it to you that people see you as a songwriter, not just as a singer?
It is really important. Obviously, it adds a lot of credibility to what we do. Doing musicals onstage is great, but I have nothing to do with the actual writing of it or the choices that were being made. I really wanted to have my own art and something that I could interpret at will. When you write your own song, it’s like “This is me. This is Adam. This is not some character that I’m playing.”
Adam Lambert sells 230,000 copies of ‘For Your Entertainment’ in the 1st week – by hitfix.com

The phenomenal sales of Susan Boyle’s debut album made the headlines this week, but hitfix.com points out that under normal circumstances, Adam Lambert’s album would be on the lead.
Boyle’s stunning feat robs another reality TV star, Adam Lambert, of debuting at No. 1. “For Your Entertainment” will sell around 230,000 copies, which would normally handily land him at the top.

Adam’s band – profiles of Lisa, Longineu, Monte & Tommy

Lisa Rae Harriton (keyboards)
Born 17 November 1980, she’s a singer/songwriter formerly with the Smashing Pumpkins; she has also composed and performed own music. She completed classical piano studies at the Royal Schools of Music and has a degree in jazz piano studies from the University of Southern California. Her parents are both musicians (dad a composer, mom a singer), and she started piano lessons at age 5.

________
Longineu Parsons (drums)
Born February 16, 1980, in Paris, Longineu learned to play the drums from his dad at the age of 2. He played with his dad in the Longineu Parsons Ensemble, and his “big break” was with Max Roach. He helped Ben Harper form the band Yellowcard and played drums with them. His musical influences include Anthrax, Slayer, Green Day, Nirvana, Megadeth, and many more, see more info here. He likes riding Harleys, and he has a lovely sweetie.

________
Monte Pittman (guitar)
As many of us know, Monte and Adam were in the band Citizen Vein together before Idol. Monte moved to LA from Texas in 1999. He started out giving guitar lessons, and Guy Ritchie (who was then dating Madonna) became one of his students. Monte taught Guy how to play some of Madonna’s new songs, to impress her. Madonna then asked him to give her lessons, and then invited him to tour with her. He also played with a heavy metal band called Prong. He lists an eclectic set of musical influences on his MySpace page, everything from Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, and The Doors to Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, John Denver, and Bob Dylan – sounds like he shares Adam’s awareness and respect for 1960s and ‘70s-era musicians. One of his nicknames is Montster.

Tommy Joe Ratliff (bass guitar)
There’s not much info out there YET on Tommy, the second-best part of the Kiss Heard Round the World, but we do know he’s straight and single, was formerly with the band Mouthlike, loves the film Velvet Goldmine as Adam does, and so far is an enthusiastic Twitterer.

Adam Lambert ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ – lyrics + audio
Down The Rabbit Hole
Performed by Adam Lambert on the album ‘For Your Entertainment’
Break out all the mechanical
Step right up to the freaky and tangible
Hands uncuffed, take the leash on this animal
If it’s getting hyphy hit me with _____?
Slip right into your stripper shoes
Roll the dice, I got snake eyes and déjà vu
Poppin off _________ with ballyhoo?
Tune in (tune in)
Turn on (turn on)
Drop out
Going down the rabbit hole
Get away from all we know
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Going down the rabbit hole
Even hoes and gigolos
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Quick slow high or low
You’re never gonna know for sure
See in stereo
Down the rabbit hole
Catnip and honey, teatime and all over town
(all over town, all over town)
houses of candy, build ‘em up and then burn them down
(burn em down, just burn em down)
it melts in your face and not in your arm??
http://lyricsmusicvideo.blogspot.com
It starts in the bass and it ends in the crystal ball
Going down the rabbit hole
Get away from all we know
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Going down the rabbit hole
Even hoes and gigolos
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Disco rodeo
My kaleidoscope
Cleopatra knows
What’s down the rabbit hole
Going down the rabbit hole
Get away from all we know
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Going down the rabbit hole
Even hoes and gigolos
Come on, follow
Come on and follow me
Quick slow high or low
You’re never gonna know for sure
See in stereo
Down the rabbit hole

Adam Lambert performing ‘Whataya Want From Me’ on David Lettermann Late Night Show – video
Posted by MsAlex in Music, Performances, Press & Media, Videos on November 25th, 2009
As the crone on the very busy and successful day, Adam’s pre-recorded performance of ‘Whataya Want From Me’ has been aired on David Lettermann show on 11/25/09.
Billboard.com: Adam Lambert’s debut album ‘For Your Entertainment’ outperforming sales expectations
First, Billboard mentions Susan Boyle who is about to become the bestseller of the year 2009:
Label and distribution executives project that based on early sales returns at the big box stores and pre-orders Boyle’s album is in contention to beat this year’s top debut-week seller, Eminem’s “Relapse.” That title scanned 608,000 units in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
And then it looks like Adam’s AMA performance helped him in the sales of his debut album which outperforming forecasted sales:
Meanwhile, Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” is also outperforming sales expectations, despite-or perhaps because of-the risque performance he turned in at the American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22. Label and distribution sources project that “For Your Entertainment” could sell about 225,000 units in its first week. (…) Adam Lambert’s shenanigans on the American Music Awards may have upset the sensibilities of viewers and gatekeepers at “Good Morning America,” which canceled his scheduled appearance on this morning’s show. However, the only impact his AMA performance has had on sales seems to have been positive.
