Adam Lambert sells 230,000 copies of ‘For Your Entertainment’ in the 1st week – by hitfix.com

adam lambert for your entertainment cover

The phenomenal sales of Susan Boyle’s debut album made the headlines this week, but hitfix.com points out that under normal circumstances, Adam Lambert’s album would be on the lead.

Boyle’s stunning feat robs another reality TV star, Adam Lambert, of debuting at No. 1. “For Your Entertainment” will sell around 230,000 copies, which would normally handily land him at the top.

UPDATED: Adam Lambert’s concert on Good Morning America on 11/25/2009 cancelled!

Below is the text of the message the Adam’s fans received today about canceling his GMA performance planned on 25th of November 2009.

source: idolforums.com

Attn: Adam Lambert Fans (About the November 25,2009 concert)
The Adam Lambert Concert on Good Morning America at the Hudson Theatre has been officially cancelled. It is not necessary to come to the theatre because it will be closed. Thank you for your interest in the show and Adam Lambert. We look forward to your attendance at future events.
Samantha Green / Audience Coordinator

According to broadwayworld.com, the reason for cancelling the concert is directly connected with the fact that the television network abc received complains about Adam Lambert’s AMAs performance on Sunday 11/22/2009:

According to a Good Morning America audience coordinator, Adam Lambert’s highly anticipated free concert in New York City tomorrow, November 25, has been cancelled due to thousands of complaints from viewers over his recent sexually explicit American Music Awards performance on Sunday. The concert was to be part of Good Morning America’s “Fall Concert Series.”
The concert was to have taken place at the Hudson Theatre on 44th Street, for upwards of 700 fans, to be aired on Good Morning America tomorrow morning.
During the controversial American Music Awards performance, Lambert kissed his male keyboard player on one occasion, and rubbed another male dancer’s face in his crotch on another, drawing thousands of complaints to ABC, which broadcast the awards event.
The Good Morning America concert was scheduled as a promotional event for his new album For Your Entertainment, which dropped yesterday.

But the recent tweet from Tommy Joe Ratliff, the guitarist from Adam’s band, indicates that the GMA performance will take place despite the above:

And he corrected his earlier mistake:

So the bottom line so far is: Adam is on the Early Show tomorrow!! and #ShameOnYouABC

UPDATE: some new articles has been published:

New York Times:
Adam Lambert Concert, Planned for ‘Good Morning America,’ Is Canceled:

The fallout from Adam Lambert’s provocative act on the American Music Awards continues: on Tuesday, ABC said that it had canceled a performance by Mr. Lambert scheduled for Wednesday on “Good Morning America.” An ABC spokeswoman said, “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”

The “American Idol” runner-up will discuss the controversy surrounding his performance at the American Music Awards. He’ll also perform live.

Lambert was scheduled to appear and perform on “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning, but, according to multiple reports, the appearance was canceled after the network (which aired the AMAs) received complaints about his sexually-charged performance Sunday night.

‘2012′ movie trailer feat. Adam Lambert will premiere at the Michael Jackson film ‘This Is It’!

Jim Cantiello from mtv.com just published a video interview with Adam Lambert backstage at the American Music Awards’ nominations that took place today in the Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles.

In the interview, Adam talks about the video made for the ‘2012′ movie track ‘Time For Miracles’ and his cooperation with Robert Cavallo on this song. Robert Cavallo is collaborating with Adam Lambert on several tracks for Adam’s debut album, due to release on 24th November 2009.

[He] pushed me to the limit. I sang for my life. It was quite a day of recording, but it turned out great.

And the absolute REVELATION made by Jim Cantiello for MTV.com and not included in the video clip below is that

“The ‘2012′ trailer that we put together with the ['Time for Miracles' music video] will be premiering at the Michael Jackson film,” Lambert revealed to MTV News, referring to a special trailer that will run before the upcoming documentary “Michael Jackson’s This Is It.”

This is IT!
THANKS, JIM!!

Reactions to Adam Lambert’s top pre-order placement at amazon.com

As we all know, Adam’s album hitter already in pre-sale. Without cover, title and any single released, it shows that the fans of his voice will buy the album even with their eyes closed.

About.com
One reaction has been published today at about.com and written by Bill-Lamb:

Adam Lambert’s upcoming album is finally available for pre-orders via online sales giant Amazon, and its impact is being felt on the bestselling album chart. Lambert is this year’s American Idol runner-up and has been the subject of far more press attention and anticipation for his first post-Idol recordings than any previous competitor. Consequently, with only pre-orders his yet to be titled album is ranking #3 on the Amazon sales chart. This puts him in the company of the powerful sales surge that greeted Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream when it became available for pre-orders. Without a doubt any leaks or presentation of singles from Adam Lambert will be greeted with a frenzy from his fans. If it comes close in quality to what is anticipated, Adam Lambert’s release could be one of the top selling albums of the end of the year.
The upcoming album from Kris Allen, winner of American Idol sits at #131 on the Amazon chart.

Yahoo.com – Reality Rocks
And Lyndsay Parker, a big Adam fan, writes in her Google-blog RealityRocks some comments about the placement of Adam’s album in the company of ultmate stars…and above them:

(…) The Beatles’ own John Lennon declared that the Beatles were bigger than God. But here’s a fact: Only a few hours after being listed on Amazon, Adam Lambert’s pre-orderable debut album is already at #2 on the site’s Bestsellers chart…above Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, fellow Simon Cowell-affiliated reality star Susan Boyle (whose own debut comes out the same day as Adam’s, November 24), and–yes–the Beatles.(…)
Clearly, Adam’s album is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2009. Some diehard fans have already ordered multiple copies.

ProjectQAtlanta
Also the gay-site projectqatlanta.com made their comment:

With no official promotion, gay ‘American Idol’ runner up Adam Lambert outdid Madonna Monday—and passed Barbra Streisand Tuesday—in Amazon.com pre-sales. This for a disc with no name that doesn’t even come out until Nov. 24.
He’s more than hanging with gay icons; now they have to sit up and take notice. Beating Amazon’s perennial favorite Madonna by a longshot, Lambert’s pre-sales Monday came in second only to Streisand’s first release in four years. On Tuesday, he passed even Babs.
Just to seal the score, Lambert also out-sold the Beatles and Susan Boyle for the second day in a row Tuesday. Not bad for an as-yet-unnamed debut with zero official publicity.
Not only did RCA not publicize that pre-release ordering would be available, the singer’s record label and publicist didn’t announce it at all.

CNN
The below video clip is from CNN’s ShowBiz Tonight.

MTV.COM
Kyle Anderson from Mtv.com has written a note about Adam topping the pre-sale charts and found it worth to mention for 2 reasons:

First, most of the details about Lambert’s album is pretty much unknown. There is no title, no single and no complete track listing yet. We do know there are a handful of producers working on the album and that the song Lambert cut for the soundtrack to the upcoming film “2012″ totally blew away Queen guitarist Brian May. The buzz around Lambert is truly huge if he’s able to sell an album that doesn’t yet exist, and the only guarantee is that his name will appear in the sleeve.
The other thing that makes Lambert’s Amazon chart dominance amazing is that he has topped a number of high-profile artists, many of whom just released new music this week. Lambert’s album stands above new records from Barbara Streisand, Madonna and Mariah Carey (as well as the Beatles).

Adam Lambert’s fans throwing sex toys onstage: ‘It’s getting really S&M’ – by E!Online

E! Online’s Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna found out what Adam really thinks about the various items thrown on stage during his performances.

It’s going further, and somebody threw onstage a red-leather tasseled whip. Yeah, and then the next night, I got one that was made out of, like, purple fur. It’s getting really S&M. (…)
It’s interesting. I got some glow-in-the-dark handcuffs. It’s really getting creative. It’s exciting. I think they really want me to play with these toys during the number.

Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and David Cook at Good Morning America concert on 8/7/09

Marnie Brodersen from Examiner.com is preparing for the Good Morning America concert in New York this Friday:

The Good Morning America concert series has moved to Central Park. Not only that but, this Friday, August 7, the show will be an Idol fan’s dream, as David Cook, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert will each perform.
Don’t know about you but, as a long time American Idol fan, I’d have to say that these three singers are among the most talented people on the show thus far. This joint concert should be a real treat.

Some practical info:

According to the ABC News web site, the concerts usually start around 8:30 AM. And for those of you really ambitious fans, the site lists the following as the best way to get to the show:
Enter the park at Fifth Avenue and E. 68th St., where you can follow a short path to the playfield. The closest subway train is the N or R train.
