In the contrary to the previous review, this one from the Chicago concert has been published today at pioneerlocal.com by Jennifer Maurer. It is enthusiastic.

When the sound of a techno-heartbeat began to reverberate through the building, a spontaneous outburst of excitement triggered thousands to jump to their feet.
Second place finisher Adam Lambert was in the house, and the mere mention of his name, or the flashing image of his face on the teletron, sent the audience into a glitter-induced frenzy. Seizing the moment, Lambert began his 30 minute set with Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” and finished with a Bowie medley. His flawless vocals and seductive delivery left no doubt that he understands the full magnitude of his talent and appeal. In this entertaining army of Idols, Lambert has established himself as the Commander In Chief.
While other performers become stars, Lambert has the potential to achieve Super Nova status. Once he becomes liberated from “American Idol,” he’s projected to appear on another Top 10 list very quickly. Note to Billboard — make some room.
Lambert’s album debuts on November 24, one week after the release of Kris Allen’s record.

After Idol Tour show in Reading: review by themorningcall.com

Before you read it: the author is definitely not an Adam-fan.
One of the most negative critics of Adam’s performance so far. Written by John J. Moser from themorningcall.com on 9th of September 2009.

Winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert ironically seemed to have advanced the least. One could argue that’s because they least needed to, and both seem to have found niches.
Lambert was the clear favorite of the near-capacity crowd and the night’s best performer, but his theatrical set was very Broadway until he finished with a David Bowie medley of “Fame” and “Let’s Dance” that suited him well.
(Allison Iraheta’s) best performance was a duet with Lambert on Foghat’s “Slow Ride,” though its wasn’t Lambert’s, as he overdosed on his trademark yelps.
Lambert’s opening “Whole Lotta Love” was very loud, but not at all muscular, which is what the song requires. He was better on his showcase of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World,” but wasn’t as good as he was on the show.
He hit a stride, though, on the Bowie songs, taking off his jacket and dancing a grind that – despite his proclamation he’s gay – had women screaming and brought a bra flung up on stage.
It was telling that his set actually was longer than Allen’s, despite the latter being the supposed headliner. Lambert got by far the bigger screams and cheers.
