Stop 1 – Portland: fans’ relations from the 1st concert of Idol 8 Tour
Posted by MsAlex in American Idol 8, Idol 8 Tour, July 2009, Portland, OR on July 7th, 2009
Probably the luckiest Adam’s fan in Portland was Jess, the creator of – in my oppinion the best – website with Adam Lambert’s photos at the Web, lambert-pics.com.
She was not only talking with Adam for a while but also exchanged hugs and kisses.
She also reported about her meeting with Adam at the idolforums.com site:
- TONS of people lined up for Adam already when we walked into M&G. There was a constant crowd of people around him during the entire after party – nowhere NEAR as many around any other Idol.
- Adorable 90-something year old lady before me in line who was hugging and grabbing all over him (not inappropriately, just very affectionate), and he was SO sweet and gracious to her. Then a few minutes later a 9-ish year old girl who came up to him and proudly (and LOUDLY) proclaimed that it was the most exciting moment OF HER LIFE. stuart.gif He laughed and said thank you and she clung to him and hugged him multiple times…so cute. Charming women from 9 to 90…
- Took pictures for a lot of people in front of me and let some little kids go first, and was patient when a few butted in ahead of me that were behind me…so when it finally came time for my turn, he said “Thanks for waiting” and gave me a huuuge hug. wub.gif (Duh, of course I’m going to wait… )
- Told him I was a fan since before was shown on Idol and knew instantly that he’d be the one for me when they aired his audition. He seemed shocked and happy to hear that and thanked me.
- Told him I run a gallery for him and spelled out the URL – he said he’d not been there yet, but would try to remember it so he could go back. Said it has almost 2.3 million views which floored him, and he thanked me profusely for putting so many days worth of work into it. (Did I mention he was gracious as ever? heart.gif )
- Brought phone bills with (unlimited) outgoing texts of about 15,000 per statement, and he was just in AWE, lol. After each one I showed him, he was like “Oh my gosh!” and signed each page (didn’t intend on him doing that, it was like he was certifying them or something… ) and then gave me another hug and thanked me “so much” for everything I’d done for him.
- LOVED the Kradam sign and said it was really well done. Talked about Kradam and how when it got to the final two, I loved both so much that I was okay with whatever happened; and he very strongly agreed with that.
I think that’s most of what we talked about…but uh, other minor details: it felt like he was standing three inches away from me when we were talking; he stares so intensely into your eyes with his BEAUTIFUL baby blues that you forget that there are other people around omg.gif and his smile is that much more beautiful when it’s a reaction to something you’ve said. Oh what a wonderful feeling. happy.gif Just being in his presence is a wonderful feeling, let alone having a conversation, multiple hugs, and a kiss. He is
absolutely incredible.
Below some of the fan relations from the Idol Tour’s 1st concert in Portland – collected from different threads at the idolforum’s site.
A big thanks to isades for the tip!

I was at the Portland show last night. It was hillarious and totally awesome because the entire time, whenever the slightest pic or two seconds of video of Adam would flash on the big screen (before he came on), the entire stadium erupted in screams. It was so obvious that people were there for him! The crowd was really into the show during the other singers (they go in order of elimination so we had to wait awhile for Adam), clapping and cheering and so on, but as soon as it was time for Adam’s set, the entire crowd (and it was a HUGE crowd) simultaneously rose to their feet and started screaming and clapping and shouting his name, and stayed that way through his entire performance. And OMFG, it was seriously the hottest thing I have EVER seen! He sounded awesome and his dance moves were totally sexy (as always), and his OUTFIT…he kept the jacket on for the first three songs (Whole Lotta Love, Muse’s Black Holes and Revelations, Mad World), but
when he got to the Bowie medly he took us all by surprise by dropping the jacket and showing off in a sleevless sparkly black vest thing (as the pics in other threads demonstrate) – I was already feeling faint and then he goes and does that! He did a lot of hip swivelling, as well…
People, if you haven’t already got tickets to the show nearest you, DO IT
NOW.
Danny was barely off the stage when the big lights went out and the strobe lights started flashing and the dry ice started misting and the Adam’s intro music and video started playing – and this is when everyone leapt to their feet and began jumping and hollering and going “OMG!” and shouting Adam’s name. The crowd was seriously 10 times louder than they had been for anyone else. When he came on, the noice was just deafening, and there were a few times during his singing that I couldn’t even hear him because people were screaming so much. ESPECIALLY when he took off his jacket, lol. He looked
unbelievably beautiful and sounded fantastic.
People were still standing after Adam finished and Kris came on and opened with Heartless, but during his second song, No Boundaries, most people sat down again. Kris then sang There’s No Sunshine When She’s Gone (or whatever it’s called), and finished with Hey Jude, when he was joined by the rest of the cast and they transitioned into Don’t Stop Believing. Of course we were all on our feet again for that, mostly because Adam was on stage again and wearing a different outfit! Very sparkly, with a shorter jacket than during his solo set.
Mostly I just wanted to let you all know that in his very first stop on his very first tour, our Adam did us all majorly proud! He is crazy talented and wickedly gorgeous, and I’m thrilled I got to be there at the beginning of what we all know is going to be a wonderful ride!

i was there, too, last night and appreciate the great notes on the show. It was so incredibly exciting that my mind couldn’t take it all in. I was in the first row – keep checking the box office close to show date – and it was beyond amazing. There is no explaining the difference in crowd response between Adam’s thunder and everyone’s else’s enthusiastic, but more restrained, reception.
All the idols gave a better performance than on the show (except maybe Danny). Allison totally rocked it – looked so HOT – and sounded better than ever. I think she has lost weight and loved the colorful hair extensions. She and Adam were so cute and fun to watch during “Slow Ride”.
I know Adam is still here in Portland tonight and wish I could see him again. But even more, I hope he has the time of his life and takes warm memories of Portland with him.
Nothing can come close to Adam onstage. I have been around a long time and seen the best in concert. I will never forget last night and hope you all have the same experience I did!!!

“Just let me say that witnessing Adam Live, is like the earth beneath you trembling beneath your feet just before a volcano erupts . . and then hot molten lava oozes all over you.
He was spectacular last night . . . and I can assure you that Portland loved . . . and I mean, really LOVED!!!!! . . this guy.
Adam’s jacket was abolutely gorgeous, so now I can understand why he was so excited about being able to wear it on tour.
The tails taper down like petals on a flower in case you couldn’t tell. My son and grandson were blown away by his performances, especially my son who could not stop raving about him.”

I literally decided at 7pm tonight to go to the show. I left my house at 7:15, was parked and in the stadium by 7:40 and seated in time to see Lil, Anoop, and Matt. They were all awesome. Anoop could be a real hottie if he would grow his hair long. Matt really rocked out on the piano. Lil looked beautiful and sounded great.
At the box office I accidentally asked for Adam Lambert tickets and the girl in the booth cracked up laughing On the way in, I stopped for a glass of wine, and I asked the woman next to me who was singing – she said “that scott guy – the adam show doesn’t start
for another hour or so”.
I was seated pretty close to the stage, but on the side, about 20 rows up.
Allison blew the roof off the place. She was so freaking awesome. I love her.
Gokey was ok for the first couple of songs – he did a good job with PYT, but then he got boring.
Then it was Adam. The stadium went insane. Insane!! He’s so electrifying in person. Whole Lotta Love followed by Starlight, which was incredibly beautiful – he stayed still for the performane, then Mad World, then Slow Ride, and finally he took off the jacket and it was just him and his biceps and his gyrating and Bowie, and I totally died and went to heaven. Gahhh
Kris was good, Heartless, and Hey Jude were very good, but goodness the energy drained out of there when Adam left the stage. He and Kris came up through the riser for Don’t Stop Believin, and Adam had lots of shiny glittery stuff on his vest and boots and jeans, but the real show was over when his solo was done.
Great crowd, great show, Adam was clearly the star (sorry Kris). The acoustics weren’t that great, it was less about Adam the singer, than Adam the hot sexy performer. (…)
Adam was – I don’t quite know how to express it – the energy level for him was off the charts compared to everyone else. Even if the crowd wasn’t there to go nuts, he would have commanded that stage. His vocals were impeccable, but not that obvious with the crowd noise and the acoustics – all I can say is star power sex meltdown.

Wow, such an AMAZING show!!! I just got back to the hotel, for I waited outside after the show. They ALL came out and signed and took pics. Adam was the only one who couldn’t take pics because he had a guide with him (it was a small, young woman so I guess I can’t call her a body guard cause I could take her in a minute). So much hilarious and amazing things to tell everyone but I definately won’t be able to get it all in tonight. But I am still on such an adrenaline high! Everybody was really great in the show, I had okay
seats; sect 112 row P so I was right in front of the handicapped section that was raised on the next level up, so we could stand up the whole time without bothering anyone.
Michael was really energetic, he even waved to me in the crowd which I was shocked that he could seee me, but I was the only one standing and dancing around (but I’m not crazy ) Was also super sweet before and after the show, sang happy birthday to one girl and danced around and just had a great time!
Also made sure to never say no to a fan, even when guards were pulling him away.
Megan: good, but I was distracted on trying to win the backstage passes through texts to ford for after show meet and greets…..sadly didn’t win.
Scott: Very good as well, funny commentary. Did a “high five” around the arena and joked about the incident with Ryan at his audition and said how that got so much attention it was just a high five to the world.
Lil: Very high energy! Beautiful voice and gorgeous in person! Got everybody dancing with Single Ladies!
Anoop: As said, amazing vocals!! so pure and beautiful. Also sooooo nice! He spent so much time outside with all the fans and made sure he signed everything! And so gorgeous in person….yum.
Matt: Amazing vocals as well, my favorite in the first act, first song was great and looooved Georgia! I could listen to an entire concert of his. Also very nice and such a goof ball, played around with all the other idols and spent a lot of time outside.
Allison: Ridiculously amazing, Cry Baby was killer! So was Barracuda and that girl knows how to move on stage! Also so much fun outside!! I asked to get a pic with her and she said of course but then said you’re so tall!! (I m 5″10′) So she started jumping up and down and it was sooo cute! Then she started climbing up onto the barracade in which she was finally taller than me….everyone was laughing at her!
Danny: Amazing. That’s all I can say. I didn’t know if I would like him but his voice is just amazing imo. He gave an inspirational speech about not letting tragedy define you and to always reach for your dreams, which I actually really needed that little pep talk. I was in tears! Couldn’t stop dancing to PYT.
Adam: OMG……what do I say???? Could barely hear him, nobody would stop screaming!! What a performer! Definately the best of the night (yeah, I’m bias) and nobody ever sat down and I have never seen that happen before. His jacket is amazing as well! He was only able to come out shortly before and then was dragged back to media so I didn’t get to meet him and I was really dissapointed. But afterwards I was determined, but at the point he wasn’t taking pics just signing autographs. He signed my Rolling Stone and I told
him that his jacket was amazing. He got really excited then (so cute) and said “It’s sick isn’t it? It’s super hot though.” In which case I responded with “You should take it off earlier” so he laughed at me. My friend then said “Adam, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but your voice is pure sex!” He said thank you in such a kind and gracious way like it was the best compliment he had received all day. I was laughing though. I quickly
responded with “No Adam, YOU are pure sex.” With that he gave me a smirk and a sideways glance while he was still moving down the row. Soooooo sexy!!!! I think I almost passed out! And he was constantly touching himself, and lotssss of hip thrusts! I would let out girly squeals anytime his hips moved When he took his jacket off, I think I had to physically sit down and remember how to breathe. Underneath the jacket: sexy black tank with a low v-neck. *dies* I have more to say about the performance, but I need to move
on.

One more relation sent by Mr-L.org reader:
As you know, Adam brought the house down. It was obvious that most of the people here came to see ” the boy who fell from heaven”, and he is truly heaven sent.
Seeing him live is a million times better then anything we saw on the Idol show. His voice is even more magical and ethereal. That was especially evident when listening to Starlight. His movements on stage were free and sensual. This is the Adam we fell in love with from the Zodiac Show, Upright Cabaret, and singing Crazy in those infamous red pants.:) ….finally out of the Idol chains, yahoo. He just left us all wanting more.
I went to the autograph signing after the show and these were my impressions upon seeing our angel. He looks sooooo young, not more then 19 or 20 yrs. He is very slender and I can’t imagine why he would ever think he was a little fat……silly boy.
There are many words to describe that face, but I would call it beautiful.
His skin looked soft and those eyes just sparkled. If eyes are the windows to the soul, his must be perfect.
He was gracious and lovely to everyone, and I’m sure he must have been feeling exhusted by then. It was close to midnight before he left.I was probably 2-3 feet from him. The three young girls in front of me had their picture taken with him, but he was moved along before I could ask for a picture too…oh well. He did sign his picture for me, and I have a picture of that that I’m going to attempt to send you.
I hope to photo shop his handler out of the frame someday soon
This was an amazing experience that left unable to sleep the entire night, just overwhelming.
I would urge everyone who can to buy a ticket and go see Adam live!To see him realize his dream brings such joy!!

Before the Idols appeared on stage videos and slideshows appeared on the big screen- illiciting screams and applause whenever Adam’s beautiful face appeared on the screen.
The idols appeared in order of elimination with Michael Sarver taking the stage first. Not a huge fan of Sarver’s but I gotta hand it to him, he did all right and did a sufficient job of working the crowd.
Megan was next and she looked drop dead gorgeous! In her self described “skank” outfit, a pink miniskirt and pink heels that must have been about 123 inches high, she was very striking. Her quirky voice and endearingly clumsy dance moves were much more enjoyable live than on the tv show. I could see her having a successful singing career with a little polishing up.
Next up was Scott. I must admit he was one of my least favorites, but he did pretty good tonight. He sounded good and appeared much less awkward than he did on the show. He told a lot of his usual corny jokes and it was fun to see his sense of humor.
“Most Improved” award goes to Lil. Lil has a beautiful voice and decent stage presence that never came across on the show. I think she performed much better without the pressure of the judges. Lil did not talk much with the audience until she performed her version of Beyonce’s “Singel Ladies” She rocked it!
Anoop sang Neyo’s “Closer” and sounded pretty darn good. He wore some goofy glasses with no lenses through most of his numbers. After each of his songs I heard what I thought was booing, but as it turned out fans were yelling “NOOOOP!” I was glad that it wasn’t booing as I would have been very ashamed of my fellow Portlanders. I should have known they would never be that rude!
Matt was next and sang “Hard to Handle” by the Black Crowes “Georgia” and “I Found You” by the Fray. Matt is one of my favs this year, and he gave a really good performance, especially his redndition of “Hard to Handle”. He has better rythm than most of the other idols, except for Adam of course. He livened up the crowd that seemed a bit subdued up until then. Matt & Scott did a dueling piano number to Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It.” It was cute-
Allison can really rock! As she came on singing “Barracuda” more people got on their feet to dance. She killed it! (in a good way) She looked adorable. I can’t believe what a powerhouse this little girl is. She has the stage presence of someone way older than her 16 years. Amazing!
Danny has been my least favorite of the top ten this season. Not for lack of talent but for his personality. Danny was actually pretty good. I decided to let go of my “dislike” of him in the spirit of the concert and enjoyed his performance. He gave an inspiring little speech about not letting tragedy define your life and reaching for your dreams. He then sang “My Wish” by Rascal Flats. Not too shabby Danny!
Excitement began to build as soon as Danny left the stage in anticipation of the appearence of Adam. Before the ROCK GOD even took the stage the whole crowd was on their feet! Loud pounding bass and flashing lights indicated the STAR OF THE SHOW was on his way. Adam’s “Whole Lotta Love” was just as sexy and smoldering as it was when he sang it on Idol – and even better it was the full length version. The screaming and applause were through the roof – the majority of the audience were obviously here to see the out-of-this-world amazing man! Most of the crowd remained on their feet throughout Adam’s entire performance. His voice was angelic on “Starlight” and “Mad World”. The arena maintained an excited energy while also amazingly, respectfully quiet during Mad World. Adam had by far more special effects than any of the other idols. The effects were nice, but made it difficult to take clear pictures at times. Next Adam was joined by Allison for “Slow Ride” This number retained the magic from the original performance on Idol. So fun to see the two of them together! Adam caused multiple adamgasms when he removed his now famous jacket for the David Bowie medley. Crowd went wild with screaming! Adam was white hot sexy in his black tank top, teasing us with multiple pelvic thrusts and hip swiveling. The man is freaking sex on a stick and I cannot even describe what a thrill it was to see him live. I will go to every tour he does from here on out until the day I die!
Hate to say it because I adore Kris but it was a bit anticlimatic for him to perform after Adam. He appeared on stage not moving for the longest time, then busting out into “Heartless” He was great but frankly I had a hard time paying attention as I needed coolin’ after Adam’s performance. Kris was his usual laidback, subdued self, although appearing much more confident than on the show. He ended with ‘Hey Jude” to which the rest of the Idols joined him in singing. The group number “Don’t Stop Believing” was next. Good number but I felt impatient watching the other Idols as I was anxiously awaiting Adam’s return to the stage.
My worst complaint is that the show was too short. Honestly, even though I enjoyed them, I could have done without any of the other Idols, I was there for Adam. I loved seeing young preteen girls dancing and yelling for Adam, and then glancing down at the 70 some odd year old man below me rockin’ out to Adam’s performance as hard as anyone there. Adam has such a wide appeal!
Also, a few tips for future concert goers. Make sure your camera has lots of memory. I regret not being able to capture more video of this momentous occasion. Also, I know you want to proclaim your love for your Idol, but please PLEASE PLEASE do not hold up signs during the concert. Someone below us kept holding up their sign during the numbers, Not only did it block our view, we missed out on some good pics! Save the signs for in between numbers.
Lastly, please excuse my typos etc. I’m soooo tired, but I wanted to write this while it was still fresh in my mind. I’m getting old and the short term memory is not as good as it used to be heh heh! I am so excited for the rest of you to see this incredible concert! You will love it!

I drove to Portland, OR from Tacoma, WA along with my new friends, Sharon (Shaley61) and her husband, Mike. We drove there for the epic first Adam Lambert concert (ok, AI concert).
I drove around the corner to put my car away. There was a van in my way and I had to go by where I wanted to turn. Then Sharon calls my cell and says ‘get over here. I just saw Anoop go by!’ I got back in time to see Scott go by. Then while we were standing there waiting for Adam, we saw Megan walk by. I said ‘Hi Megan. How are you doing?’ She was very sweet. Pretty as she appears on TV.
We saw Matt come walking by. We asked for a photo and he said sure. We told him we were looking forward to the show. He seemed really nice.
The van blocking the driveway turns out to be waiting for the Idols….I think they were headed to a rehearsal.
We waited and waited and decided to go sit down. As we were sitting talking, Allison and her mom walked by. She is petite in person. I’m 5’3” and she’s about the same height. Tiny, too. She was very friendly and we took a picture with her. She gave Sharon and me each a hug. We said we were excited about seeing the show and she thanked us. She was nice and stopped to talk for quite a bit. Didn’t seem in any hurry. She walked away. And then,
We sat down and thought, why we didn’t ask Allison if they all were rehearsing today. Meaning, is Adam rehearsing today… We were sitting there talking that over. After a bit, Kris walks through the door. We yell, ‘Hi Kris’. He stops and we ask for his picture. He says of course. He gave Sharon and me each a hug. I said we couldn’t wait to see the show. We told him we came down from Tacoma to see it and would see the show again in Tacoma. He was surprised, I guess that we came from Tacoma and asked if we flew in. So we told him it’s only 2 hours drive away. He is soooo nice and very easy to talk to. Sexy sweet. Kinda like the guy next door. Someone came over to take his picture and then asked him to come around the corner and take a picture with someone else. Kris says, ‘sure, absolutely!’ Wow, very accommodating! He came back and we asked if they would stay over night in Tacoma and Kris said he didn’t know. I think they must have a lot to think about right now…lol Kris walked away and then we started waiting again for Adam…. Kris was still around the corner and came back and talked to us some more… He was so nice and friendly.
Allison came back. And we asked her where the others were….meaning Adam. She indicated something like she didn’t know. Prolly couldn’t tell us.
Kris came back by and said good luck waiting.
Danny came & he stopped when we said hello and we asked for a photo. He said sure. I told him my bff was a big fan cos she is and he said Really? He was nice also. He also hugged each of us.
We waited some more and then Mike, Sharon’s husband, saw Adam before we did and said, ‘Hi Adam’. We all looked up & saw him framed in the doorway when he entered the room. OMFG!! If you think he is handsome in photos, he is 100x better looking in person! He exudes charisma! He is sexy, HOT!
Sharon jumps up and asks if we can take photos with him. He says yes, but he needs to hurry and people are waiting for him. Mike took this picture of Sharon with Adam. Notice where she accidentally put her hand on his chest. Wowza.
Then I jump up for the next picture. So he puts his arm out and I run over and fling both my arms around his waist. I think I musta been a little exuberant cos Adam kinda laughed and I loosened my grip. This green print shirt he has on must be made of silk. It was a very soft, silky and thin material. I could feel his warmth through it and I could feel his long, lean body. (If you’re haven’t fainted and are still reading this, there’s more….) He leaned over me (as he’s a whole head taller than me) and I could smell his cologne. Musta been the Dior Homme that he said was his fav. Wow, what a view! He was leaning over me and I was smelling his cologne and enjoying my arms around him and Mike, bless him, was fumbling with the camera. Didn’t hurt my feelings any. I don’t think Mike meant to fumble, but I thanked him for it later.
Check out this photo.
Adam:
1) Gorgeous smile
2) Tall fit physique
3) Rock star sunglasses, with the star flash off the camera
4) Multiple chains on hairy chest
5) Lots of cute freckles
6) Hand on my back
Me:
1) Arms locked around his waist
2) Dreamy look in my eyes
3) Need I say more……….?
Mike was cool and took all the pics of us with the Idols. He shook Adam’s hand and said we’d see him at the show. We also told Adam we were from Tacoma and would see him at the Tacoma show. He said the Tacoma show would be even better as they will have done the first show. He took a couple of other pics with some fans hanging around and then had to leave. Sharon followed him and took shots of him running away. When we get those scanned, they will be posted.
Oh, and one note about Adam’s speaking voice…..very articulate & melodic. If I didn’t know what a fantastic singing voice he had, I think I could tell by the tonal quality, he must be a singer. I will hear that voice every time I see his pic from now on. And then probably faint.

We arrived at the RG at about 3pm, a full 45 minutes before we were due (and might I add 4 hours before the concert) and it was a good thing because all of the regular parking was gone!! I suggest to all heading to a concert to purchase parking vouchers early if they are available. We ended up finding parking 5 blocks away!! Anyway, we checked in at the will call box office and there were about 50 other people waiting for the meet and greet. We waited for at least a half an hour and finally an official looking woman with a clip board came out and started calling out names…my last name starts with a K and so we waited for what seemed like an eternity, but finally heard my name called – I was with my daughter, so we walked forward and were handed a round fabric like sticker with the idols picture on it and the word PRESHOW and the date (nice keepsake for later!)Turns out that most of the people waiting were not on the list and there was some drama with people trying to get on the list, but its all very official and they were not allowed to come with us. we were told to put the stickers on our bodies and then we were told the bad news….we would be walked past the idols who would be seated behind tables, were were not allowed to touch them unless it was a handshake and there would be no pictures with them, you could take all the pictures you wanted OF them, but they would not stand for hugs or individual pictures..my heart sank becuase I really wanted to hug Adam and have my picture taken with him, but oh well, at least I was going to be WITH him!! So I brushed it off and we all started walking across the walkway to the acutal venue (the box office is across the square from the venue) short walk, but I told my daughter we should lag back a bit so we could be in back..maybe we wouldn’t be as rushed through as the first people and that ended up being true) we walked into the venue and down what seemed like 100 stairs to the bottom level. Through a set of doors and there they were..all set up behind tables with an American Idols banner hanging behind them – here is the order..Adam was first (of course!!) then Lil, Megan, Alison, Matt, Kris, Scott, Michael, Danny and Anoop. Since we were in the back we had lots of time to stare at Adam and take some fairly good pics. They are on my daughters camera and I will post them later. We all waited patiently…we were told before we went in that we would receive an 8 x 10 photo that the idols could sign but each idol would only sign ONE thing, so if you had something else for them to sign (I had a Rolling Stone) then you had to choose. So when we got in line I was looking for who was passing out the photos…and I realised that ADAM had them!! Since he was first in line, he started things off! As I got closer and closer to HIM I really had this sense of calm come over me..I can not find the words to describe how BEAUTIFUL our boy is in person…unworldly beautiful..JET black hair..so black and still looks completly natural on him (honestly,I can’t even imagine him as a strawberry blonde now..I am sure he would still be beautiful but the black hair just suits him!) he has a heavy blue streak now, probably pumped up for the shows and it looks just like he describes..like a feather all blue and black and shiny..his skin is perfect and he is tan..might be makeup but it looks totally natural…his eyes are just heaven..light blue, darkly lined and memerising..I looked right in them (I will describe exactly soon) and he is SMOLDERING! He didnlt have alot of liner on, just a touch and he was PERFECT! He was wearing a blue grey tshirt, jeans and his favorite black long toed boots, I could see this becuase he was on the end…the girl in front me was named Katie..I remember this becuase as my turn came up I totally forgot than anyone was in the room except for Adam and I remember watching him write out her name..silly, I know! So then it was my turn..I stepped up and introduced my self, I told him how much his music meant to me and how it made me brave and fearless and I gave him a necklace like the one I wear – its a sliver plate that has FEARLESSNESS written on it in Sanskrit…it is beautiful and totally sums up how he makes me feel – his is on a leather cord and lays about mid chest, mine is more delicate and feminine and sits right at my neck – here comes the best part and I don’t want anyone else to feel bad, he might just have been being nice, but he reached out and touched mine around my neck and then looked at his and told me that this was the best gift he had received so far and he really like it!!! OMG just kill me now! We looked each other dead in the eye for what was probably 5 seconds and he said thank you.. At that point I tried to get a picture with him, but they were monitering us and he looks great but I am a blurr as I moved to quickly..he signed my RS and then (even though he was only suppose to sign one thing) wrote my name again on the photo and signed it. I have to metion that my name is spelled liek Janis Joplin and not the usual way, so I am used to spelling it and so I did to Adam, but he totally got it right, not once but twice, he is so good with his fans and makes you feel like you are the only one..he said my name again and thank you again and then at this point I was moved on down the line and I got all the way to Danny when I realized I still had a gift in my hand that I wanted to give him, I work for a Sportswear Mfg. and we just released these fun bumper stickers…I Like Guys that Can Pitch A Tent and I Like Girls With Nice Tents…I knew he would like them. If you don’t know what the guys one means, look it up in the Urban dictionary..he knew right off and actually laughed out loud!! So we moved on down the line and it was over, but I have to tell you Adam is everything we all hoped he would be. He is so sweet and kind and of course unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! I hope to meet him again someday and get that elusive picture..but all in all what I have in my memory will last forever!

I was so stoked to see Adam, I was in my seat an hour early. The Carrie Underwood video got old fast, but Adam’s picture popped up often enough to make the fangirl in me squeee every time.
Great opening to the show. The good news–no reports of strobe-light-induced seizures, and the super-heavy bass vibe only felt like it was going to stop my heart. The bad news—Sarver was about to take the stage. I made the best of the situation by singing “99 bottles of beer on the wall” to myself until he finished. Megan looked great but that was about it. Scott was funny with his take on people tryiing to fist-bump and high-five him. He’s more compelling in person than he was on TV and a talented guy. When Lil sang, the woman in front of me jumped up and started dancing. I watched the monitors for a while, but half way through Lil’s set, I’d had enough so I gently poked her in the back. She didn’t have a problem with it and sat down, but the guy next to her (who didn’t even know her) got a little huffy–go figure. Anyway, it was Matt who really got the party started and Anoop who kept it rolling. Great job, Anoop!.
Allison totally rocked the house; Danny didn’t even come close. I wanted to save my energy for Adam anyway, so I sat down. The woman in front of me was dancing again, but this time I didn’t mind. Actually the Gokester didn’t sound half bad. If only he hadn’t started talking. He opened with a few condescending remarks regarding the audience and played the dead wife card again. From there he launched into a preachy lesson about overcoming adversity. (Geez, Danny–say it once and shut it.You don’t have to repeat the same thing five times for people to get the message.)
When the stage was empty again, something eerie happened. Everyone decided to hold their breath at the same time and somewhere a clock stopped. I don’t know how long this actually lasted, but when Adam came on stage, thousands of people suddenly came back from the dead, jumped to their feet and started screaming! It was overwhelming. If I hadn’t been screaming too, I would have cried. Adam was born to do this. His song choices were brilliant and his performances were white-hot.
What really got to me was Adam’s fearlessness during the Bowie medley. First, he tossed aside THE jacket to display–before 12,000 strangers no less–a body he sometimes feels self-conscious about. Then he pushed the boundaries with signature dance moves I’ve only seen on the ***Tube vids. Little by little, he’s showing the public who he truly is. Sweet j*sus, how can anyone not love this man? I heard his set was 25 minutes long. It felt more like 10 and I started missing him the minute he left the stage. I felt bad for Kris having to deal with an arena full of screaming adrenaline junkies, but he was cool and did a great job. When the idols left the stage after “Don’t Stop Believin’”, I was ready to hop a Greyhound for Tacoma, but I went home instead. This was possibly the most amazing night of my life. I LOVE YOU, ADAM!!

My Awesome Adam Experience
I MET ADAM YESTERDAY!! I am beyond excited, and I want to share the experience that I had with Adam because it was really wonderful and beautiful, and he exceeded all of my expectations.
Anway, my mom and I are from Eugene, and we left at around 8AM, and arrived in Portland at about 10AM. The guy near the parking lot was completely wrong and told us that the idols wouldn’t come out before the show. It was really early and the barricades weren’t set up yet, so we just left to try to find the hotel and search out Adam there.
When we got to the hotel I went in and talked to the receptionist. She told me that she couldn’t say if they were there, but that if they weren’t there she would just say they weren’t there. So I knew they were there, but I didn’t just want to hover there awkwardly, so we made our way back to the arena. At about 12 noon we got there and saw the barricades set up so we went down and started to wait.
Finally, at around 2PM we started seeing people come out. First it was Anoop and Matt, and then Allison, and slowly they started filtering out. Finally, I heard the screams and saw Adam. I decided then and there that I wasn’t going to wait until he made it up to us, I was going to go to him. I grabbed my bag that I knit, and the gift for him (three books: “Survivor” by Chuck Palahniuk who wrote Fight Club, “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” by Jonathan Safran Foer who wrote Everything is Illuminated, and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead” which is a play by Tom Stoppard), and my camera and I ran down there as fast as I could. I managed to get close to him really quickly and I said “ADAM!! I have a gift for you,” and I handed him the bag. I said to him “they’re books,” and he looked right at me with a big grin on his face and said “Oh my God! I LOVE BOOKS!!” I couldn’t believe it, and I just said to him, “can I give you a hug,” and still smiling he just laughed and said “oh, of course!” I gave him a huge hug, and I told him that he’s amazing, and I asked if I could take a picture with him. He said yes, of course, and I got what I’ve been wanting ever since I bought tickets for the concert. He put his arm around me and flashed that amazing smile, and that was it. Then I showed him the bag I knit, and told him that even though everyone said I should give it to him, I couldn’t help keeping it because I loved it too much. He said that the bag was really cool and laughed and it was adorable. So I said thank you for the picture, and he said “thanks for the books! That’s the best kind of present.” Then I ran off like a maniac.
I have to say, I’ve never been so excited in my life. I was literally shaking out of excitement, I actually think I was in shock. When he was hugging me he probably couldn’t believe that I was shaking like a rabbit. But I don’t care!! I got to meet him and hug him. And he was sweet and sexy, and he smelled amazing. It was the best ever.
Here’s the picture. I love that you can’t really see anyone else in it because that’s totally how I felt. For that moment (I don’t think I talked to him for more than a few minutes) I felt like he and I were the only two people there. I just remember him. Enjoy!!

Adam Lambert on Halloween, Asia-tour, over-twitting and ice cream to Seattle Times (with Lil)
Posted by MsAlex in American Idol 8, Idol 8 Tour, July 2009, Portland, OR on July 6th, 2009
Bob Payne from Seattle Times made an interview with Adam Lambert and Lil Rounds just before the 1st concert of the Idol Tour in Portland on the 5th of July.
The excerpts are below.
Favorite Halloween costume
- Adam: “I was a glam pirate, and then a glampire.”
- Lil: a pumpkin. (This causes Adam to laugh out loud.) This was clarified as actually being a jack-o-lantern.
Tour in Asia?
I told Adam about all the tweets from fans in Asia and asked him he expected to tour over there. He said he hopes so, especially because they’re viewing the new album as “a world release.”
Release date for the first single?
“Well the album’s slated for November, so I expect either October or November, but nothing’s set yet.”
Favorite ice cream flavors?
- Adam: Mint chocolate chip!
- Lil: Neopolitan.
View on twitter
“I love Twitter but I think there are people who over-Twitter. I got on and said Portland’s really cool. What else do you want from me?” He essentially joked that it’s kind of ridiculous to broadcast his every move.
Coolest person to meet during Idol.
Lil: Smoky Robinson.
Adam: Barry Gordy was cool too “They were just both so classy.”
Fan question (Eleanor, Israel):
How planned out are your performances? E.g. the shirt lift in “Ring of Fire,” the thing he did with the microphone at the end of “Whole Lotta Love.” Is it planned or does it come naturally to you?
Adam: those kind of things were not really planned. In fact, the shirt-lift thing was an accident, because his finger got caught! He didn’t even know he’d done it until someone joked with him about it later.

Rolling Stone on Idol Tour concert in Portland – “Glambert” was out in full force
Posted by MsAlex in American Idol 8, Idol 8 Press, July 2009, Portland, OR on July 6th, 2009
Susan Yudt from Rolling Stone has written today (6th of July) her impressions from the Idol Tour concert in Portland.
The excerpts on Adam-part are below:
The two biggest stars of the show — winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert — embraced what endeared them to millions of fans throughout Season Eight. “Glambert” was out in full force, with tight pants, his otherworldly wail and a tribute to the original rock androgyne, David Bowie.
In true Robert Plant style, Lambert made his arrival known, punctuating his three-octave howl on “Whole Lotta Love” with pelvic thrusts and microphone straddling, then quickly switched gears for the haunting “Mad World,” showing off his crystalline falsetto against a moody backdrop of smoke and twinkling lights. After reprising “Slow Ride,” his energetic duet with “little sister” Iraheta, Lambert closed his set with a medley of Bowie songs, then sunk down into the stage to the loudest cheers of the night.

Some of the early Idol Tour update… Adam Lambert in Portland
Posted by MsAlex in American Idol 8, Idol 8 Tour, July 2009, Portland, OR on July 5th, 2009
So, first of all Adam Lambert IS REALLY in Portland:

Secondly: Danny Gokey placed a picture at his twitter page featuring the Top 10 and the unknown blonde guy in (most probably) rehearsal room. Thanks, Danny!!
Secondly, a small update from the fans awaiting for the concert / Idol bus in Portland by LATimes.com
Just outside the security gate, next to the driveway, seven young women sat in a circle on the concrete ground, clustered around a Pizza Hut box, signs for Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Danny Gokey lying idle at their sides (pictured above).
The women, when questioned, of course say they are Idol fans and come to bear witness to the moment when after a year in the show’s bubble, the singers come face to face with their public for the first time. Mostly in their 20s — although a few may have been a bit older but declined to furnish exact ages — they have come from as far as Connecticut and Vancouver, Canada, for this moment. Their ranks are heavily tilted toward Adam partisans, although a lone Kris and Danny loyalist sits with them in apparent harmony.
And finally:
- Rickey from Rickey.com will be apparently make some weblogs-interviews with the Idols – at his Rickey.tv. (The only available so far is Anoop.)
- looks like Idol-Tour twitters to follow are:
@Timesidolblog
@idoltourbenches
@rosequarter
@richardrushfield
@onportland
And please… PLEASE keep me updated in case you have any news, tips, pics, vids, etc – my e-mail is msalex@mr-l.org.
Your contribution is much appreciated!!!
