Old, old stuff – but so fresh indeed! Interviews with fans after Idol Tour concert in L.A. back in July (16th in Staples Centre) made by MTV.com.

If Thursday’s American Idols Live! tour stop in L.A. proved anything, it’s that America’s love for Adam Lambert is as strong as ever. From the preshow screaming whenever his face appeared on the Staples Center JumboTron to the merch counter’s sellout of Adam T-shirts, the Glambert fascination was in full force.
This was especially true for the “American Idol” fans MTV News caught up with after the show, who had a common love for the rock star in the making.
“Obviously Adam,” Natalia Brandon said when asked her favorite performer. (We probably didn’t even have to ask, since Natalia was wearing a homemade Adam T-shirt and carrying a sparkly Adam poster.)
Beth Nilsson couldn’t pinpoint her favorite performance of the night, but she had no trouble picking one performer: “I liked all of Adam’s. Not to be, like, an Adam freak, but he was so good, every single one.”

I think I mentioned someone told me where the Idols were staying while in LA. Libracats decided to brave it with me and we went to the hotel at 11:00 AM this morning.
So we went inside and sat in an alcove for about 30 minutes and chatted. We’re both dog tired from yesterday still. But it wasn’t long before we saw Kris zipping by. I was like, if Kris is here, that must mean Adam is right behind him!! Because I knew they were coming from the Ford dealership media thingy they had.
So we get up and sure enough there’s Adam standing in the lobby talking to his publicist Roger. We waited for an opportunity to approach him. When the hotel manager came up to talk to Adam, I called out for Roger. I asked him if it was OK if we met Adam. He said sure and motioned for us to wait. After Adam finished talking to the hotel manager, Roger asked him if he wanted to talk to a couple of fans.
Of course Adam said Yes and came right over! I’ll try to recount everything but my mind is still a little addled right now. He asked us if we enjoyed the show last night. Of course we gushed. I asked him to sign my program. …

Before and after every gig on tour, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and the rest of the contestants pose for blurry camera-phone pics, sign autographs and meet their supporters face to face in a ritual that has become as important to the “Idol” tour as the singers’ set lists. The get-together, referred to by the fans as being “At the Buses,” gives the die-hards the chance to share an iota of a moment with their favorites (as well as tossing them letters, gifts and kisses) before they jump on the tour bus to leave town.

As to be expected, the superfans were out in full force on Thursday to catch their hometown hero, Adam Lambert, in the flesh. Girls as young as 12 and as old as 66 sported homemade bedazzled T-shirts and talked openly about the naughty things they’d do to him while ironically clutching the Rolling Stone issue in which the singer announced he’s gay. “A girl can dream,” said Wendy, the mom of a teenage Glambert, Shelby, who proudly displayed her “Adam Lambert’s Future Wife” tee.

After Gokey’s brief foray into the megachurch, Lambert emerged to a firestorm of fans’ screams and took the evening somewhere that felt distinctly more dangerous — in the best way. His brief star turn wasn’t a revelation, since it’s been widely acknowledged that the young Angeleno is a great in the making. But it was extremely satisfying.
Reprising several “Idol” high points (including the inevitable “Mad World”) and adding a David Bowie medley that started in an old-time music hall and ended at a rave, Lambert moved from pose to pose, gesture to gesture, with the poise of an artist who’s absorbed the history and meaning of every eye flicker. But his favorite was a bump and grind that was both playful and entirely serious.
Lambert also reprised his duet with Iraheta on Foghat’s “Slow Ride,” which gave the teenage firebrand her own chance at a trademark move: She’d throw her hands over her head in wonder every time her friend hit a particularly amazing note. During her solo spot, Iraheta didn’t pose much. She stomped and grinned widely as she belted out songs by Pink, Janis Joplin and Heart. She also played guitar on one song, as if to make it clear that she’s no pop tart. Her punchy vocals weren’t always perfect, but the rough patches only added to their appeal.

(…) All of this, of course, was leading up to the main event…at least for me, and for many of the avid Angelenos in the house: 20 minutes in rock ‘n’ roll heaven with the one, the only, Adam Lambert. The anticipation inside Staples was heavy, palpable, electric. Just the buildup from the jumbotron screen display (a montage of closeups of Adam’s screaming, copiously guylinered face and of inky black nail varnish being applied in slo-mo to his famous fingertips) elicited dog-whistle-decibel shrieks rarely heard outside of a Jonas Brothers concert, Saw movies, or a crime scene.
And then…the Glamerican Idol emerged amid thick swirls of dry-ice fog and overdriven cougar-fan hormones.
Stalking the stage in his reptilian blue leather Skingraft jacket that perfectly matched the cobalt streaks in his coif (surely not an accident–nothing about The Glambert’s carefully crafted image is coincidental), the born performer let his freak-flag fly high, and I enthusiastically saluted. Sometimes he had to strategically tone down his fantastical freaky-deakiness while on American Idol in order to avoid weirding out more conservative viewers, but last night he obviously harbored no such concerns: I literally lost count of how many gratuitous crotch-grabs, vigorous pelvis thrusts, Chippendalean hip-gyrations, and suggestively phallic microphone-fondling moves he executed during his kickass kickoff number, “Whole Lotta Love,” alone.
The guy just oozed pure sex out of every one of his thickly Max Factor-spackled pores. It made me glad that this year’s Staples audience seemed a lot older than last year’s (when the tween-friendly David Archuleta was the second-place co-headliner), because much of “Whole Lotta Love” was not suitable for underage viewing. This performance left me feeling sweaty and unclean (in a good way). May I suggest the Idols Tour merch booth start selling official Adam Lambert Freshening Moist Wipes? They’d certainly come in handy after “WLL.”
Next, Adam did his best to further the noble cause of Muse Awareness with his majestic and stellar cover of that Brit band’s “Starlight” (the only thing that could’ve improved that was if he rode onto the stage on the white unicorn from Muse’s “Knights Of Cydonia” video), followed by his signature goosebump-inducing Donnie Darko tribute “Mad World,” complete with the indigo mood lighting and fog that made his original TV performance of the song such a “moment.” My head was close to exploding at this point, but when Allison returned to the stage to reprise her “Slow Ride” duet with Adam, the combined power of their superhumanly octave-straddling voices pretty much made what was left of my skull cave in. The merch booth ought to sell official Addison Helmets, too.
And finally, Adam finished with a Bowie medley (I NEVER thought I’d see the day that an Idol would head-explodingly perform “Life On Mars”!) during which he stripped off his Skingraft jacket to reveal a whole lot more of his own skin. Where were those moist-wipes when all the hot and bothered fans (of all persuasions) really needed them?
Oh, and by the way…Gene Simmons really needs to keep his long-tongued mouth shut. I just have to say that. Anyone who says Adam Lambert is “not a rock star” or has “ruined his career” is clearly an idiot. Gene wishes he could perform like Adam did last night.

The tickets for this show read “American Idols Live!” but if they’d instead said “Adam Lambert, with Kris Allen and Eight Other Guys,” well, it might not have been that much of an exaggeration.
For it was clearly Lambert, he of swooping multioctave range and the glam-rock fashion style, whom the majority of this mostly sold-out arena clearly had come to see. And disappoint them he did not with a five-song set that had the crowd on its feet throughout.

The show quickly changed gears from angels to demons, with glamazon Adam Lambert emerging from the back of the stage like an alien from the planet Rocktune.
The over-the-top praise Adam received during his unprecedented run on “Idol” — including Kara famously proclaiming him a “rock gawwd!” — is almost an understatement. As far as stage presence goes, he can’t be beat. A thousand Lady Gagas could have descended on Downtown Los Angeles singing Madonna tunes while making out with Britney Spears, and I still don’t think a single audience member would have been able to look away from Adam’s riveting onstage antics. He’s got Elvis’ snarl, Gene Simmons’ cockiness and Klaus Nomi’s aura of mystique. And just as I was worried that his set was veering into self-indulgent territory (David Bowie’s “Life on Mars”?), the band segued into another Thin White Duke classic, “Fame,” and Adam sashayed and preened like an otherworldly creature while unleashing the incomparable vocals we’ve come to expect. (Wouldn’t he be amazing at the VMAs? Like maybe joining already-confirmed musical guests Muse for a version of “Feeling Good,” which he performed on “Idol”? He covered their song “Starlight” during last night’s set.)

I went to the LA-Staples Center on July 16, I arrived at 4:00 pm to see if I will get a chance to meet Adam before the show, unforturnately only Michael, Kris, Matt & Danny came out before the show, they were very nice and took their time to sign autograph. I even ask Kris to take picture with me but it didn’t come out good. Michael was very nice too. It was almost 6:00 pm and I knew that Adam not able to come out before the show. At that moment I hope Adam will come out after the show, just before the show start I looked around, most people around us are families, during the whole show, most Idols performances l was able to enjoy, I like Anoop a lot I think he has potential to become popular because he knows how to work with the audience, Danny’s performance a little bit surprised me, he sang his heart out specially the last song, but when Adam’s turn, I was so excited and I tried to take pictures and videos as much as I can, I missed most of the performance of Adam, I felt so bad afterward, I think one of the reason why it seems went so quick because I have watched so many videos of the concerts. I should know there are so many people will put their videos up and good pictures for this show and I shouldn’t need to take mine, actually mine is not even good. I also enjoyed Kris performance, my husband said he plays piano better than guitar. After the show I decided to wait outside at the barricade to wait for Adam, I was just behind one of the lady and she left after two hours waiting, so I got to the front of the barricade. Before Adam only Michael and Allison came out. About midnight, finally Adam showed up and signed autograph for me. He had eye contact with me when I told him that I’m from Hong Kong, Adam signed for eveyone there, is was so cool that he was able to do that, I felt so much better after that, I hope you guys don’t make the same mistakes like me during the show, enjoy his performance as much as you can.

“I went to the LA show and to last night’s Ontario show and now that I know what to expect well, it’s over for me But maybe these things that I picked up along the way will be useful to some of YOU out there! I really hope so!

Meet & Greet TIPS:

1. Look for the BUSES and scope out the place b4 you enter the arena. That general area is where the Meet and Greets will be. No one tells you these things. I went to the LA show and to last nights. It was the same procedure for both

2. Go the the Restroom right b4 show ends and be ready to wait. Don’t waste your time in the long restroom lines…take care of business b4. You need to hurry up and get a good spot! I waited 2 1/2 hours after the LA show and about 1 1/2 hours last night (well worth the wait)

3. Take some water…a girl needs to rehydrate after all that screaming

4. Idols have their own sharpie pen but I had my sharpie just in case. Megan signs in pink

5. MOST IMPORTANT…get to the front of the barricade. You will have a greater chance of getting to meet idols, They move down the walkway and if you’re not in front, you may be out of luck

OTHER STUFF

–On the overhead screens both before and during the show, you can win passes to the private M&G after the show, and meet the Idols, by texting ‘fusion’ to 66937. This enters you in a Ford Fusion trivia contest.

–Danny will say, “this is my last song”…this is your cue to get ready! Get your cameras, phone cameras, whatever you got ready because Adam is immediately after this! I recommend not taking video if you’re only going to one show…don’t waste your time seeing Adam through a camera lense…see him, hear him, take it all in. You can catch this stuff of youtube. Have your hubby or whoever else do this. It’s just my opinion…

–there is a meet and greet b4 the show starts. In Ontario it was at 1:30ish but it was blazing hot. Water, an umbrella, sunscreen helpful for hot climates. No shade provided for fans here. Adam did not go to this one. I’m not sure if he goes to these early meet and greets. Lord knows he needs a break. You’re taking a gamble here if you want to see Adam b4 the show. THe other idols are there (in case your interested) and you can get great pictures w/ the other idols. The program is $25.00 and they will sign on their special page, if you want to collect their signatures. It is not crowded for this.

–I got my Rolling Stone signed by Adam. THe RS magazine is very dark…politely show Adam where to sign so that his signature will show up or else it will get lost in the dark or take a metallic silver marker or white marker and ask him if he can sign w/ that instead, and smile!

–As you’ve seen, Adam will look at the artwork and talk and linger!! I saw this at the Ontario show w/ a couple of people. I wish I had known this b4…I would have drawn him fer sure! Hell, I would have made a sculpture of the guy had I known.

–Adam’s handlers will collect any gifts or letters you may have.

–Say THANK YOU, Adam! When I told Adam thank you he looked right into my eyes and said you’re so sweet. No one ever says thank you.
