More and more questions are being raised in connection with the surprising release of single ‘Want’ recorded by Adam Lambert and the new album being prepared to release this summer.
The picture of a younger Adam together with the single ‘Want’ is now available at the first page of Hi Fi Recordings official website.
In Billboard on June 19th 2009, we read the view of the
HIFI’s CEO John Hecker
about album/music:
The rest of the tracks will sound similar. The music’s amazing. There are some uptempo [songs], there’s some that rock a little more, and there are some songs on the same tip as “Want.” It’s a real album that’s coming out, not just a conglomerate of a bunch of songs. This is all original material — as a matter of fact, Adam wrote a lot of it.
about cooperation with Wilshire Records
Hecker says that he was approached by them with the idea about releasing Adam Lambert’s material in January 2009.
When they first discussed it with me I was really hesitant, because usually when there’s music that’s been recorded earlier, the stuff isn’t so good. This stuff is unbelievable. We saw that it was the right thing for fans to hear this music. We’re doing everything on the highest level, from the mixes to how we’re promoting it.
about Adam as co-author of the music
Hecker says that Adam Lambert co-wrote the material that will appear on the album and even made a trip to the Wilshire Records studio in Los Angeles as recently as May 2009 to hear it.
‘He was in the Wilshire Records studio right before the finale actually, and he was blown away by the material.’
about Adam’s share in album’s success
I don’t really want to talk about the nuts and bolts of the business deal…but I can tell you that Adam will share in the success.
about company’s legal rights to realease the album
John Hecker is ’100%’ confident that his company has the legal right to debut its Adam Lambert album before 19/RCA does theirs.
We would never put anything out that wasn’t fully owned by the parties involved with all the rights secured. We were really careful.
abouth the influence of the album on Adam Lambert’s career
I’m working [Adam's] brand with as much care as anybody could. I do not want to hurt this guy, I want this guy to be as huge as he should be, and I think this music is only going to help.
Wilshire Records’ comments
Wilshire Records’ CEO Malcolm Welsford and music producer Mark Endert are much more scarce in their comments. As per Billboard
Endert declined to comment, while his manager at Nettwerk, Alia Fahlborg, admitted that they knew it would be controversial, but “He’s very proud of the work he did’.
Other coverage
Perez Hilton made a blog post about the issue as well, releasing at the same time a brand new nickname for Adam Lambert, namely ‘Glamberella’. (Cute..!)
Mjsbigblog.com equally covered the ‘Want’ gate, raising some additional doubts about the whole arrangement of the album and calling their newest article ‘The Adam Lambert Demos – Curiouser and Curiouser’.
In fact, the title couldn’t be better formulated.
P.S. The very unofficial sources, namely some of Adam Lambert’s fans, claim that the song identical to ‘Want’ – but called ‘December’ and released under the name of Dublyn Jones (apparently one of the artists under Wilshire Records) – has been removed in the recent days from company’s website.

Adam Lambert Pre-Idol….. Wilshire records had the song “December” on there website song by Dublyn Jones 6/19/09 which btw is the same song as “want” but I went there this morning and it’s gone. I wish there were still real reporters in this world …Their site had 12 to 14 songs by Dublyn Jones but they have all been removed except 3 or 4.
But even this is still not the most interesting part.
The simple search in Google gives NO results for the name of Dublyn Jones except from a very scarce MySpace account that has recently been updated on the 20th of June 2009.
Well, maybe you can argue that it is irrelevant for the case, but can anyone tell me, who and WHERE is Dublyn Jones?

Wilshire and Hi Fi Do Not Represent Adam
It doesn’t matter what they have the “legal” rights to do. Adam does not want to be connected with this “album” and we should support him without question.
Maybe some media outlets want to know more about Wilshire and Hi Fi’s “story” to explore the “mysteries” of the studio sessions and who wrote what song, who signed what when in order to stir the pot.
But to Adam’s fans, none of this should matter.
I have tons of friends who are singers who have worked in sessions on songs they couldn’t stand and would never want to hear again. They wanted to get some experience and needed the money. It’s not deep.
Hi Fi and Wilshire’s reasons or background story or “intentions” are irrelevant.
Fans of Adam Lambert should not care what Hi Fi has to say because Adam distanced himself from those songs in his press release last Friday. Adam was very clear about what he wants his fans to do (regardless of what Hi Fi and Wilshire say)
We need to STOP giving these companies so much attention and press.
Adam Lambert wants his fans to wait to hear his new album with RCA. He wants his fans to support the work he is doing now. There is no confusion about that.
If we support Adam Lambert as an artist we should do what he has asked and we should not download, purchase or listen to the Hi Fi recordings regardless of what they sound like.
HI FI can claim the Holy Trinity floated down to their offices and told them to make this album to “help” Adam. They could whip out a contract signed in blood by Adam last Monday and witnessed by Judge Judy, Adam’s mother and Mother Theresa resurrected and it wouldn’t change the fact that this album isn’t coming from Adam.
It is our job as Adam Lambert’s fans to support the new album he is making now with RCA and 19 because that’s what he has asked us to do and we should be a united front at all times.
