Adam Lambert’s debut single ‘For Your Entertainment’ – collected press reviews

“For Your Entertainment” comes just days after Lambert’s first post-Idol single “Time for Miracles,” off the soundtrack for the disaster flick 2012, was revealed. While “Miracles” fit more into the style of arena-rocking power ballad, “For Your Entertainment” is in line with the glam revival Lambert has promised on his debut LP, and the title song is definitely deserving stylistically of that extraterrestrial For Your Entertainment album cover. The “For Your Entertainment” single cover art was revealed on Just Jared, and Glambert is seemingly paying homage to Beyoncé and Rihanna with the “face enshrouded by metallic glove” aesthetic.

The first single and title track from Adam Lambert’s soon-to-be-dropped debut album couldn’t be more of an announcement. “For Your Entertainment” strides into the room, snaps its fingers and declares 2010 the year of Our Gorgeously Airbrushed Overlord.
With a toy whip in his hand and a glittery gleam in his eye, Glambert croons familiar phrases about making it hot, getting rough and staying in control. Scandinavian hitmaker Dr. Luke wrote and produced the track, and it has that compressed, noisy rock ‘n’ roll circus sound he’s created for others, including Britney, Pink and that other neo-vaudevillian troublemaker, Katy Perry.

“For Your Entertainment” didn’t sound like anything else Ryan normally plays–or like almost anything else on the radio in general, actually. This is both a compliment and curse. I previous described the song, which I sneak-previewed last week, as sort of the quadruple-headed glittery alien baby of Mika, Sam Sparro, Robbie Williams, and Kevin Rudolf…and now, after compulsive repeat listens in my Hello Kitty headphones, I stand by my impressed first impression. The song is three and a half minutes of glowstick-brandishing, disco-stick-wielding, rump-shaking, mojo-oozing, party-starting, floor-filling, life-celebrating, genre-blurring awesomeness.

Hold on to your smurf-ilicious hair extensions, Glambert fans; this morning, Ryan Seacrest unveiled the titular single from the American Idol runner-up’s November 23 debut album, For Your Entertainment: A hushed acoustic meditation on … KIDDING. It’s the sonic equivalent of a dynamited disco ball. Did you expect any less?

Adam Lambert is about as subtle as a marching band.
He proves this once again with the release of “For Your Entertainment”, the first single from his upcoming CD of the same name. Entertaining indeed, Lambert brings a whole new meaning to the word. How many artists can combine an upbeat, techno-glam rhythm with an S&M lyric that would have made Andy Warhol blush? Lambert is indulging in a sound that’s all his own, with music you can feel, taste, and inhale.
Just like he promised.

Singer Adam Lambert has graduated from “ American Idol,” ended his flirtation with classic rock band Queen and now he has one message for his fans, “Baby, do what I say.”

We give the song a hearty thumbs up. It’s got an electronic vibe with a good chorus, it’s definitely something you can dance to. He also gets to show off his vocal acrobatics towards the end. Entertain us ’til we scream indeed, Adam.

It’s finally here!
“For Your Entertainment,” the first official single off of Adam Lambert’s debut album with the same name, hit the radio on Ryan Seacrest’s KISSFM radio show this morning. It only took minutes for Twitter and blogs to explode with opinions on the highly anticipated single from American Idol’s fierce & fabulous (and my fave) runner-up! With a catchy, pop vibe and a fun chorus, the song makes me want to get up on my feet and dance! And as a huge Adam fan, I think he totally delivered.

will never be the same.
We have inherited a new spokesperson for this very popular holiday – Adam Glambert aka American Idol Season 8 runner-up, Adam Lambert.
His fan base, lovingly known as “The Glamberts“, have propelled this extraordinarily talented young man to superstardom.
His eccentric and campy persona, coupled with his sublime, innovative vocal talent, has allowed him to emerge as a singular, distinctive and iconic artist.

Luckily for Adam Lambert, his intended audience likes it rough. Adam’s warning for anyone listening is clear. His first single, “For Your Entertainment,” from his debut album of the same name, hits you hard with no apologies. Anyone expecting the typical American Idol album is in for a shock. Lambert has never compromised himself in his art, and this single is no different. No matter who you are, or your opinion of Lambert, this is for you. The entire message of this song is aimed at everyone, and if you’re talking about him or his song, he has accomplished his mission.

As always, Adam has delivered. I laughed when I heard tthe new single he first time, so totally outrageously fabulous, then shed a tear or two that this spectacular talent and human being is on his way to conquer the universe. The biggest chuckle will come when he performs it on the Oprah show, which she invited him to do…………… prior to its release. That should wake up her book club audience !!! He is truly here for our entertainment.

All the reviews are awesome for an awesome artist, whose talents, charisma, magnetism, personality are of his own league. His debut single is so good and popular, and his album will be fantastic: a collection of the best songs.

I love the song “Time For Miracles”. The video is awesome. Adam is so versatile. When he is given a job, he prepares and comes up with an excellent performance. He is unstoppable. I also love the song “For Your Entertainment”. What a great listening and dance song. Both songs are sure to be a hit for him. Adam is just beginning his superstar career. We are all lucky to have him, and he is beautiful on the inside and out. Love the album cover picture!

I actually thought his CD would be titled “No Apologies”.

Looking forward to more cuts from this CD. I am hoping that the “entertainment” name means, he sings a lot of different types of songs so we can hear his vocal abilities. He dose amazing things with that voice.

Nothing original about this song. Does not showcase his voice. Will never be a commercial success. He can do so much better. By the way, learn how to play an instrument, like other artists. You can and shoud be more than just a voice.

Joe, lots of singers don’t play instruments. I don’t seem to recall Michael Jackson playing anything. I guess if he had, he might have been a huge star!

Right linda playing an instrument can be a big plus factor but it doesn’t mean one can’t succeed in the music industry if he/she doesn’t know how to play an instrument. For me, Adam’s voice is enough to make him stand out. :)
