Julie Beun-Chown from Canwest News Service on July 02, 2009 in the article published at nationalpost.com admits:
I like guys in makeup.
And then she is citing Jane McKay, senior makeup artist with M.A.C Cosmetics:
“There is a trend emerging from the rock world that’s filtering to the street. When you look at people like Adam Lambert from American Idol, he’s androgynous and willing to wear makeup and shows men that other men look quite good.
Man in eyeliner is not as bizarre as you’d think. In evolution, a lot of animals have a dark rim around their eye. It’s just evolved from nature.
It’s not about adding colour. Guys don’t wear blush. Man makeup is neutral, almost invisible, but it enhances.
That’s why men prefer moisturizers and toners that absorb quickly and don’t leave a greasy film. Nail polish for men – Christian Dior pioneered the concept in the 1990s – must be matte and natural, like a French manicure. The more popular products – sheer concealers, clear eyebrow/eyelash mascara, toners and bronzers – are all “very simple in what they do.
Men want to enhance what nature gave them.
And the author of the article adds:
‘Men in mascara? It may surprise some, but not the marketers driving the male vanity bus. Initially stumped by the perceived Liberace-level foppishness of man makeup and cringe-inducing wearers like Michael Jackson and Boy George, companies have now turned to an old-is-new male concept: grooming.’

I just don’t like the androgynous statement. Who is anyone to make a statement like that. Adam has never made that statement. He has never said that he feels he is feminine and masculine and therefore genderneutral. He is gay folks, not stuck between masculine and feminine.
However I do like the comment about men getting back to grooming. I think men want to groome. They want to look their best. It is just when it is done wrong that it looks awkard.

Guys with eyes is a great look!
Eyeliner, a smudge of deep charcoal shadow…why do we as females have the supposed-corner on the market of makeup?
The really weird thing for me is the hoo-haw over Adam’s eyeliner when every single guy that appears on TV today is wearing makeup, for goodness’ sake!
For example, Gilles Marini looked astounding on DWTS with his dark, edgy eye makeup and skin foundation, Amazingly astounding!

I think of androgynous as a good thing when we’re talking about Adam. It doesn’t mean he is confused as to his sexuality – it means he appeals to EVERYONE, he blurs the lines, deliberately, and it’s working for him!
